Thanks. They're really taking a chance by betting the farm on a part 3 before part 2 even arrives.

Part 1 was better than I expected. Thankfully they got the look of Sonic right compared to that guy in a suit mascot they had originally.

They're going to have a spin off series with Knuckles, but that character hasn't even been proven yet.

One risk in all of this is forgetting that Sonic is the real star of the show. Too many other characters being focused on can mess up the formula of the first film, so hopefully they are careful about that.

Maybe they're going for an Avengers style where all of Sonic's pals unite to fight Dr. Eggman.

Shadow and Eggman.

Eggman by himself is not menacing or at least any more, he's kind of a joke, tbh.

There's fans hoping Metal Sonic shows up, I guess that'd be fun. Though, with Shadow alone it'd be perfect.

I should be able to put the Knuckles disc in, and then connect my Sonic 2 movie disc on top of it to watch all of Sonic 2 with Knuckles as the main instead...

I never got a chance to play Shadow the Hedgehog. Was that one of the best games in the 3D Sonic series with polygons? I play all of the 2D Sonic games, or 2D style ones that don't switch to 3D, though I did play the first Sonic Adventure game. I thought it was weird that Sonic entered a human world with cars and stuff.

But then the movie brought him into the human world anyway. As they did with the Smurfs live action films, but it worked better for Sonic IMO.

Metal Sonic, I only saw him in pictures, but was that a good Sonic character also in one of the 3D games?

But yes, hopefully Jim Carrey as Eggman is more threatening to Sonic this time.

I read Shadow's game is pretty much enjoyable, but for some reason it hss guns which is kinda stupid. They're supernatural hedgehogs and can do anything so they wouldn't need a human weapon.

Sega and their gimmicks, I guess.

Spoilers ahead. You've been warned!

Haven't seen Sonic The Hedgehog 2 yet to confirm, but apparently you get to see
[Show spoiler]an updated Sonic 3 logo
at the end of the credits.

Here it is:

Personally I'm already looking forward to the third movie before I've even seen the second.

Edit: Turns out it's fake. It's explained here (spoiler tagged video) :

But seriously, there's an interview with Jim where he is asked where Robotnik's character could be taken for Sonic 3:

3:00 in the video. Maybe Sonic 3 could be his last if serious about retiring.

We will just have to wait and see if he will come back to play as Robotnik or if Robotnik is even going to be in Sonic 3.

Having seen Sonic 2, the third movie can go in multiple directions.

Announcing a 3rd Sonic before the 2nd one is even in theaters is risky but I guess makes some sense to inspire fans to show up in theaters.

With Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Out of the Shadows hitting theaters as the 2nd live action Turtles film, they were eager to make a 3rd, but not enough people showed up for part 2. I liked both films as a Turtles' fan since I was a kid, and disappointed there wasn't a 3rd. They got the tone of the characters right, and the action/fighting was excellent IMO.

Thanks.
Carrey is seemingly suggesting that he'll make Sonic 3 when nano-technology is advanced enough that when he does a new Sonic 3 interview, he'll be looking at the host in one eye, and something completely different in the other eye from the advancement of nano-digital technology.

It'll be interesting to see this next week to see if his character survives and is set up for a part 3. Hopefully that would be his last film before retiring.

Well, I don't really want to spoil too much, so I'll be as vague as I can be with this, and I'll spoiler tag it as well just in case (don't click if you don't want to know) :
[Show spoiler]It is left open ended.

Regardless, we'll see what happens.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Update Shared By 1 & 2 Movie Director

Quote:
In anticipation of the film's release, Jeff Fowler caught up with Collider to discuss Sonic the Hedgehog 2. When asked about the possibility of his returning for the confirmed threequel, Fowler revealed he is not "officially involved" with Sonic the Hedgehog 3 as of yet, but expressed his hope to come back and his love of working on the first two movies. See what Fowler shared below:

"Nothing would make me happier, I’m not officially involved with any of the additional films yet, but I’m so proud of this movie, I’m so proud of the first movie, so excited for fans to see it. They’re really incredible movies to make. “

With Sonic the Hedgehog 3 still being in relatively early development, it's understandable Fowler can't confirm whether he is involved with the threequel. However, with Sonic the Hedgehog 2's original announcement confirming him to be back in the director's chair, it does create the question of whether Fowler being absent from Sonic the Hedgehog 3's reveal is due to the studio searching for a potential new mind to step behind the camera or if there are deals still happening behind the scenes between the two. Fowler is currently attached to direct a live-action/CGI hybrid The Pink Panther reboot and though news on that has remained quiet since having first been announced in late 2020, he may have scheduling conflicts that prevent him from returning to the blue speedster.

If his scheduling does allow him to step back into the director's chair, it seems like it would be a missed opportunity to not have Fowler helm Sonic the Hedgehog 3. The filmmaker overcame the video game movie curse odds with the first film to deliver something both critics and audiences enjoyed while the sequel is already starting off with strong reviews, sitting at a 66 percent approval rating from critics at the time of writing, putting it three percent higher than its predecessor. While audiences await word on the threequel, they can look forward to catching Sonic the Hedgehog 2 hitting theaters on April 8.

I hope Jeff returns. What he said was interesting though: "I’m not officially involved with any of the additional films yet". Did he just confirm that there are more Sonic movies planned after Sonic 3? Neat if so, and looking forward to them as well.

that's perfectly understandable but wasn't there a Family Friendly audio mix created for the Extended BD set and Disney+ because parents wanted to watch it with their kids?

Because studios know that Avatar is a dead horse of a franchise and the sequels will be "Bonfires Of The Vanities"-level bombs.
