Default In Regards To The "lip Sync" Issue

Hello, the ONKYO AVR's are set at 40ms delay default. I have noticed myself and also read in other forums that if you change the default 40ms delay to 0ms the sound seems to match up perfectly or very close to perfect. All the new shipments have the newer FW version as far as I know so the delay should not be a problem. If you are worried about it still, just make sure to buy the unit from a dealer (make sure its an AUTHORIZED dealer) that has a 15-30 day return guarantee, I have noticed most if not all dealers have this guarantee. Then if there is an issues then you can just return it.

If you are someone who is looking for great audio sound and performance I would highly recommend the 805 or better. Also keep in mind that the 805 and lower units will not upscale to 1080P only upto 720P via HDMI. If you have a 1080P set or are a VIDEOPHILE I would highly recommend looking into the 875 as it will upscale to 1080P and it has the REON HQV which does an amazing job with all formats 480i/p,720p,1080i, being upscaled to 1080p. Also with the newer FW versions it adds a hidden menu that allows full control over the REON's features (access to the hidden menu is done by holding the "display" button on the remote until the word "brightness" appears on the units display and only on the display will not appear on the TV) Hope this helps

...So when I connect my DirecTv receiver, the upscaling would improve my non-HD channels? - other than that (which would be great), I don't see any need for upscaling since my blu-ray already does that for dvd's.

Thanks for the info. I have read about the built-in delay that can be adjusted, some say that is a fix and a few claim to still have the issue.

I think I can deal with the high-heat issue (fan), but the sync thing would be bad. So many people complain about it, and yet at the same time the recievers have plenty of supporters and very high ratings. I may take the chance on it, still weighing my options....

The other thing is, will it really be a big enough step up from my Yamaha DSP-A1 to justify the expense. hmmm.

...If I were rich enough, I would definitly buy separate DVDO 50 + Pre/pro + amp ($10k total or even more). While I'm not so rich then sr875 ($1k-1.2k) would be great compromise...
