Like I said in the other thread, the differences between all these releases are so negligible that you can buy any of them and be happy (happy in comparison). I still have the original Funi first run releases with the foil insert cards from '99/2000, PLUS I bought Paul Champagne's second art box (when he started doing color boxes), and I'm more than happy to keep what I got until something noticeably better comes along.
So, again, I just think if you see any release for sale for a fraction of what another dvd set might sell for, then just go for the cheapest ![]() |

It looks terrible (dat ringing), but is still "watchable". Things could be worse though, it could be say Pet Shop of Horrors, or Hareluya II Boy (keep your expectations very low for that Blu-ray when it comes out this year).

it's done by an encoder called Impakt, you can find it in public trackers for anime. :rock. it's the dvd version but without the horrible shit encode quality of the original

Assuming that the film materials exist it would've been in the interest of Funimation to do their own Blu Ray. The series isn't popular in Japan but it's success in the west would probably have made it finacially viable for Funimation to fund their own transfer from the film prints.

Now, with FUNimation on their way out, well, being rebranded Crunchyroll we won't be hearing, reading or writing their name for much longer. Hope this change is for the better because FUNi just kept screwing up (mainly with their cashcow - Dragon Ball Z). |

How do the "remastered" DVDs from Madman fit in here? It has the Flying Dog logo on the cover, so it would be from the time the DVD box was released in Japan. I assumed the FD box set would just be the same 1999 DVD masters that Victor released, am I wrong? Too bad they are PAL.
As for the myth of TRIGUN not being popular in Japan, why does that persist? The original DVDs are "premium" prices on the used market and the 2010 box set is "super premium"! Hell, even the LDs are not cheap! If it was so un-popular, that would not be the case. It is just a damned shame that FD have not issued those DVDs again, especially with the TOHO show being made. |

Anyway, the original release of Trigun did just okay. These are not the sales of a mega hit like say Cowboy Bebop (initial release did 19,651). https://web.archive.org/web/20210121...ithing.com/312 https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...#gid=330693366 |

The 2010 box set commands a price well over 80,000yen. It is also possible that the popularity of the show has changed over the years and it now more sought after than it used to be. It was also an extremely early DVD release, the LD's probably sold a lot more. They are certainly common. Not Tenchi common, but common! HA! |

A few years back I purchased trigun (Funi release) and I regret purchasing it due to the subtitles being so hard to read. I have glasses! See my avatar.
I gave my friend that release and kept my geneon releases. Was that wrong of me? ![]() |

The Remix singles had better video quality than the original singles, and they also fixed the mistake of using the first version of the opening on every episode as that was the only clean version they received. FUNimation repeated that mistake on the 2010 DVD, and fixed it on the Anime Classics release. Both FUNimation releases are inferior video-quality wise to the original singles release.

The ending credits was the only issue because it's the same hardsubbed videos as on the original singles. |

Trigun was finished on tape. As the show was not a success in Japan, it is unlikely they will do that additional effort of re-compositing and editing the series, if they ever re-master it.

They might do it with the new series out and all. I'm assuming Stampede did well enough.
