Does anyone have a comprehensive list of all the 4k releases for these BBC documentaries? This one will put me at 9 and I'm trying to figure out if I'm missing anything.

Is there any reason to think the US version will be different from the UK disc? It's so bizarre that there are different cuts for the bluray and 4k discs, and I wonder if the US release will follow the same pattern. Would love to know the reasoning behind the decision. Was it in Attenborough's contract that he wouldn't be presented at such a high resolution?

I'm curious about this as well because I can't get enough of these docs.

I found this. Seems comprehensive, but I can't say for sure.

This is great, thanks! Only one I'm missing is The Green Planet (and the non documentary ones that I'm not interested in). Please let me know if you find the standard blu-ray one too! Now I'm curious if I have all those as well!

That list is missing plenty and also has some non-documentaries. Here's a list from my own collection (I've tried to limit it to BBC shows, but there may be some that are not). Also, a few of these are unavailable or hard to find used, but I'm including them for completeness. Lastly, they're all narrated by Attenborough except Galapagos, though that's not a guarantee they are BBC either.:

Africa
The Blue Planet
The Blue Planet II
Charles Darwin and the Tree of Life
Darwin's Struggle: The Evolution of the Origin of Species
Dynasties
Frozen Planet - The Complete Series with David Attenborough
Galapagos
The Hunt
Life, Narrated by David Attenborough
Life in the Freezer
The Life of Birds, David Attenborough's
The Life of Mammals
Life Story
Madagascar
Natural World: Birds Of Paradise
Nature's Most Amazing Events
A Perfect Planet
Planet Earth
Planet Earth II
Seven Worlds One Planet

Thank you for your list.

Yeah, I knew what I linked wasn't all documentaries. I should've just deleted the Doctor Who/Sherlock entries, but I just copy/pasted that whole section, which claims to be all 4K releases by BBC Home Entertainment.

Is it "missing plenty" though? The original question was BBC 4k releases. Which of the additional docs that you listed fit that criteria?

To me, there are frequently noticeable differences in quality when moving away from that.

This doesn’t have the release information but I’ll have the content produced. You can try to reference these lists for disk releases.

I think he might have been responding to my response of you where I mentioned having all the 4ks you listed. I requested if anyone had a list of blu-rays as well. He proceeded to give a list of many of them (as well as many DVD-only releases). Looks like I have all but two of the blu-rays and none of the DVDs. Might have to expand my collection.

If anyone has more to add to these lists, please let me know.

Oh, wow. It looks like there is a "DVD release" column, but I see a couple that have 4k releases that are listed as no. So I wonder if it actually does only mean DVD. I might have to take some time to dig through this. I had no idea there was so much. Thanks for this.

FYi, Attenborough is indeed on the US Blu-ray disc episodes -- I even grabbed a few screenshots featuring him for my upcoming review.
The man is still getting along better than most people 20 years his junior.

Here's a glamor shot just for fun.

TOO BAD that I got the UK release!
I don't know why they censored these scenes

This might be my favorite BBC UHD release so far. Stunning picture quality with the most unique photography. And they’re getting better with their audio mixes. The Atmos mix is lovely. Great release.

I was just about to say I noticed that while checking the Blu's out.

I thought the standard UK blu's had those scenes as well? Its just the 4k discs that lack them.

Correct, the UK Blu-ray discs have his scenes in them. The only difference between the US and UK Blu-rays is that the UK Blu-rays are at the original 25 FPS, whereas the 4K(worldwide) and US Blu-ray are at 24 FPS.

I'm curious on the spine art, if it matches the previous US 4K release, or is aligned like the UK version.

I'm aware of the differences between modern BBC stuffs vs the US discs. Also do you mean spine art for US Green Planet? Because it does look right on mine.

He might be on the BDs, but those were never an issue. The problem is that most of his scenes are edited out on the 4K discs, presumably because they were shot in 1080p.

I'd imagine the US and UK (and AUS) 4K discs are identical. Looking at the back cover of the US release, both the 4K and the BD have the runtime listed as 247 min, which is identical to the UK 4K. Meanwhile the UK BD have a runtime of 285 min, the original broadcast length.
