I think this is one of our best total packages since the start of FCE, so I hope you'll be pleased and then some.

I tried to reach out to Roth years ago to prompt him to do a disc release or to at least get it on streaming, after that, my expectations were it would never happen, I can't even remember the last time I saw it on broadcast TV. This morning I received notification it's on its way, can't wait to watch it in it's restored glory.

I remember when City-TV here in Toronto would air this back in the '80s and early '90s in Canada. They also aired The Coca-Cola Kid as well. Fond memories.

It's nice to see this being released. Indeed, it is a hidden gem.

Mine is arriving today. I'm really looking forward to seeing this for the first time since the VHS days, AND diving into the features.

This was one I saw on its fairly limited UK cinema release, in London, then again when we showed it at the University Film Society. I haven't seen it in a long time, so let's hope it lives up to my memories, and I'll be buying it to find out.

Interesting regarding the edits to avoid a X rating. The film had an 18 certificate in the UK and I'm curious as to which version I saw. I do know the film was cut further from what I originally saw when it was shown on British television.

I don’t believe the pre-R-rated version, that we have on this Blu, was publicly screened before.

So glad to hear it! The now seventy-somethings, who were in it and made it when they were thirty-somethings, would be thrilled to know that it resonates with people who are that age in 2022.

I finally finished going through this disc, including the features. I wasn't sure what to expect from the film itself, having not seen it in at least 30 years, but I liked it MORE than before. And the release is great. The commentary track was informative without being boring, the interviews were great, and the isolated music score was important to me as a Tangerine Dream fan. I hope this movie finds new fans.

Thanks! Be sure to really go over those menus with a fine-tooth comb...

Thanks for this hint. I saw the review mention extras that I hadn’t seen on the disc and came here to find out if I was missing something. Clearly I was! I loved the film and the release btw!

You can see Bobby Roth and his personal 35mm print of HEARTBREAKERS at the New Bev next month. 9/20 and 9/21. This quintessentially LA movie hasn't screened there or anywhere else theatrically in many years. Bobby will be there for Q & A's both nights. And, the film is perfectly paired with Alan Rudolph's CHOOSE ME, also from 1984. These films were often doubled up in rep houses in the mid-'80s.

Program details and tickets are at the New Bev website.

Been hooked on this film all summer and I finally got a copy of the Blu-Ray this week. It's even better than I'd hoped! The commentary from Chris O'Neill and Bill Ackerman sheds all kinds of light on the production and distribution process. Nice set of supplements and the menus and overall aesthetics are top-shelf - I love how some extras are hidden in the upper right-hand corner. I'm in love with the watercolor artwork from Pip Carter.
