I'd be curious to hear from anyone who buys this - Have Universal done anything about the subtitles on the Spanish Dracula. On the blu-ray they only have HoH subtitles.

I still have the original dvd rendition where they had English dialogue only subtitles.

Last year's vol 1 set and the steelbook was the same old HoH subs. I'm guessing with some confidence they're reusing the exact disc.

It seems such an odd thing to consistenyl omit, especially when the subtitles track has always existed.

The English version was cut to hell by the Hays Office upon a re-release, and it's never really recovered. The Spanish version never went through that, so it's more coherently edited.

However, Carlos Villarías is no Bela Lugosi.

I'd suggest the English version first.

Essentially they're two totally different films that just happen to use the same script (translated, obviously) and sets. So really quite different beasts compared to something like Nosferatu ('79) which despite being shot twice, both versions of that are still the "same film".

Usually people watch the English version first but it doesn't matter that much. English version has the (mostly) better cast, Spanish version has the better direction and Lupita Tovar.

Just noticed something. Is Dracula UHD a BD-66 or a BD-100? I think the box with all 4 claims there's one with BD-100, yet none of the individual UHD's state any of them are a BD-100...?

Yes, I passed on Vol 1 and waited for 4K individual releases. They all came with slip covers. I'm hoping Vol 2 gets the same treatment.

OH man , There on sale at Gruv , Any chance they still are coming with the slips ? I kinda knew I would regret buying the box sets , It was just I have bought these movies over and over in every format possible and just went with the box sets . Now since I started buying 4k UHDS , You gotta have the slipcovers .

Unfortunately there's no way to know for sure if they'll be shipped with slips. I ordered mine from Bullmoose the week of release.
