I think it's safe to assume the 48 Hrs PP releases did well enough since there has been such a quick turnaround to release them again. Which is funny because of how neglected they were prior to that. I mean, the PP releases were just a year ago and now here are two more releases.

The fact that BHC 4 is coming probably also has something to do with it.

I'll wait for reviews and caps because Paramount is so inconsistent. I'd feel better if these were coming from Kino Lorber.

They did on the Star Trek TOS SteelBook set. They did on The Ten Commandments gift set.

I´m not impressed with the blu-ray (Paramount Presents) of "48 Hrs.". Therefore I'm sceptical about the picture quality of the 4k disc and it´s from Paramount and not from Sony.

Grain hater? 48 Hours is a very gritty, grainy, dirty looking film.

When you put the two solo covers next to each other, it looks like they're shooting at themselves

Spines too

I like the solo covers, but I think the double feature will both be slightly cheaper and save space next to the two Paramount Presents editions on the shelf.

Prefer the individual releases. I hope the first two Crocodile Dundee films follow soon.

Ironically, over at the PP thread, many were complaining that the disc was DNR'd, which it wasn't. I love that transfer and can't wait to see it on UHD.

After years of crappy releases, Paramount returns to give these underrated gems the full Paramount treatment: endless double dips and UHDs after they made you buy the new BDs and acted like that was it.

They should have released the double pack with both formats in the first place and called it a day. One release without frills so everyone's happy with their lackluster effort because it's an affordable price without the Presents line markup.

The fact that they finally did 4K scans and didn't release the long cut of Another 48 Hrs is ridiculous. These films deserved a boutique label release to at least have some more effort put in.
And once again no original audio. I feel really burned on this Paramount cash grab. I'll be buying the new release but I have a shelf full of editions of both films simply because they never get it right.

I picked up the original DVDs which were crummy and non-anamorphic. They seem more like careless LD master ports. So I grabbed the anamorphic DVDs which were only slightly better. I had to keep the original DVDs for the trailers.
Then came the piece of crap first Blu-ray of the original film. Eventually I got the letterboxed Laserdiscs to see how they were as well. Now add in the Presents Blu-rays and then this new double pack reissue.

Still more carping about this 'legendary' extended cut. I don't understand why people get so chewy about it, Paramount are simply not going to put that kind of effort into it. When they're doing the transfers they're not pulling every scrap of film from the archive, they're transferring the conformed OG neg. So it getting a new scan is neither here nor there, the longer cut would take more work to reconstruct than just "4K scans".

Honestly, whatever... as long as someone (if not Paramount) releases the theatrical cut of The Warriors. I don't expect the TV cuts of the Naked Gun films to be included when they come to 4K.

I guess Beverly Hills Cop III is pretty much guaranteed in the near future too then!

Paramount is showing a lot of love for Eddie Murphy, which is fantastic!
