I think this is similar to the Elden Ring launch edition which just came with a few extras like this too, which is still nice but personally i have ruled out paying more than £40 for new game at launch except for probably extremely few games. Maybe GTA 6 might be in that presently but no other titles i can think of would i probably at most pay £50 for either which AC6 currently on PS5 launch edition could be pre-ordered for.

I haven't played AC since a long time ago. I know I did the PS1 games. And was bored by the ones after when I played a demo. So I didn't jive w/ those.

I want to get excited cuz of the console generation we're in. I may just bite on it.

I know what I want out of this game and a reskinned Souls game isn’t it. Really hoping previews come soon so we can finally get a grip on what direction they’re going on the gameplay. Visuals are gorgeous.

Peek at a boss fight.

Quote:
I got to see Armored Core VI in action last week, and while the game appears to be staying true to the mech action series’ roots—featuring quick combat and lots of customization—there are also some things that fans of Dark Souls, Sekiro, and FromSoftware’s other, more recent games will be happy to see. I’m talking about giant (and difficult) boss battles.

Fights in Armored Core games tend to be more about managing gear and gauges than closely watching attack animations and searching for openings. But the boss fight that capped off a recent hands-off demo I saw at Summer Game Fest felt very much like something you might see in a modern FromSoftware game, with a unique design and bespoke attacks.

The games looking great on one hand and whilst From Software got a lotta praise recently with Elden Ring, i can't help but remember how Witcher 3 put CDPR on the map and the DLCs, then we got Cyberpunk 2077 hyped through their own media messaging to end up with the crap we got.

So I think there's plenty reasons to maybe wait until reviews are properly out. Apparently there's a 3 v 3 multiplayer mode in the works with up to 3 spectators.

I know DF have got hands on, and they're saying generally good things about it which is a good sign.

that's a weird comparison

A studio known for 1 game vs a studio that have been consistent since 2009, making multiple 'game of the years winners/contenders' (Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Dark Souls 3, Sekiro) and basically creating a genre

not to mention a new IP vs the 6th game in a series

I mean, strictly speaking CDPR hit the big time with Witched 3 as it was multiplatform but they were definitely making games before that too.

From Software also has a consistent track record of making games on an engine notorious for bad frame pacing, and if memory serves, Elden Ring didn't escape that. Given how mobile gameplay for AC is, and with Cyberpunk 2077 just as one example of a let down, i feel like generally it's become a sort of bad idea to pre-order and not wait for reviews more recently.

I'm hopeful though that even if you wait for reviews, the price just after launch won't be more expensive and you can likely still grab a good deal.

This will be FromSoftware's first game to support up to 120fps on PC.

Sounds great, hopefully current gen consoles too then, seeing as they all now support VRR and options to open up to 120hz.

Tbh, Ratchet & Clank or Miles Morales have also shown off a solid VRR method to boost visuals and keep framerates looking crispy enough, even though it was at 40fps or so. I wonder if From Software would be willing to take that route at all but i don't quite know if a multiplatform title would warrant or allow them to do such a thing.

Either way, i think given the fast pace, 60fps and above would be great for this game. If they have 120fps support for PC unlocked, then i can imagine the field day high end GPUs could have too.

Ratchet and Miles Morales use VRR to boost performance mode for unlocked 60fps+ too.

Armored Core recently showcased their MP modes. I didn't get a full look at the showcase they seemed to live stream but it seemed really chaotic to me. Whereas the single player feels measured, the MP as shown off felt like everybody just ran straight to the centre and it was a battle of shooting each other till you can quickly keep killing the others with the tankiest set up.

I expected a bit more of a vertical and horizontal combat with a lot more variation to facing off against opponents. I hope that maybe this is something that can be rectified with balancing changes to hopefully encourage a lot more versatile play than this live stream. The stream was literal tanks ramming into other tanks and like i said, using the heaviest ordinance they could to quickly try dispatch one another.

REVIEWS ARE IN!

Quote:
It’s 3:30 a.m., my palms are sweaty, my heart is pounding, and a small mech riding on a tank blows me up for the 11th time. The rubber nubs on my controller’s thumbsticks had started rubbing off long ago, but now they’re completely decimated. The PS5 DualSense was not built for this. Armored Core VI’s demanding tactics focused on simultaneous movement and gunfire mean that at any point you could be pressing and executing multiple actions at once, and are often called on to chain them in quick succession. The results are sometimes messy, but more often than not equal parts exhilarating and exhausting.

By the end of Armored Core VI, I’d betrayed everyone I’d known. It was lonely, standing atop a giant aircraft carrier city in a distant star system ravaged by brutal conflicts that began well before I’d arrived and would continue long after I was gone. It was also thrilling, knowing what I’d overcome to get there and the choices I’d made along the way to become something deadlier than anyone who’d ever tried to get in my way. Armored Core VI is very special. I haven’t played a game like this in a long time.

Eurogamer also gave this a 5 stars and said its not Soulslike to get it out the way hut incredibly satisfying and has the fingerprint of From Software all over it. Hope this sells really well. Hope to pick it up soon. Look forwards to your guys actual user reviews too.

Unfortunately, it looks like this is another FromSoftware game with not so great optimization, like Elden Ring, so if you want a solid 60 fps you need to play the PS4 version on a PS5.

Been working through this game and for me it's been harder than any FromSoft game other than Sekiro. The Chapter 4 boss nearly ended me, and it was such a stressful fight I haven't been able to bring myself to play the game again since I finally won the right on Thursday. I like the game a lot but the difficulty spikes are a bit much.

Bandai Namco and developer FromSoftware have today released the first major update for Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon following its recent release. Upon its arrival at the end of August, Armored Core 6 was largely well-received by both fans and critics alike. Despite this acclaim, though, FromSoftware has now let loose a new patch for the action game that contains a handful of important balance changes.

Available to download now across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms, this new Armored Core 6 update is mostly focused on alterations to various weapons and bosses. Notably, some of the more difficult bosses in Fires of Rubicon have now had their attack patterns changed, although it's not known specifically how they have been updated. Beyond this, FromSoftware has also pushed out a bunch of fixes for different bugs that players have come across.
