Right. They need all the time they can get to BS with their buddies and ignore customers.

I jest, but I see your point. I won't be calling.

I'm hoping for my local GameStop to drop HD DVD, even if theres only one available at my store compared to around 50 BD's.

Retailers dont care about phone calls, they care about sales! I've read about too many hddvd whiners, while blu-ray owners are BUYING!

If this is true then it's really good news. I am all for the retailers kicking HD DVD to the curb especially because Microsoft/Toshiba/Uni/Paramount are too stubborn and greedy to give up their ridicules stand and continue to rip off customers.

Good, Hope everything goes down in February and March so nobody will feel the need to post "Paramount to be Blu Ray exclusive!", "Universal to be ...", "New Toshiba Blu Ray player!" etc on April fools day.

Hey ive been a frequent visitor to this site and im a huge blu-ray guy. It just seems to me there alot of negative people on this site and gets a little old seeing all these comments. For example this post the guy is trying to start a conversation and there where a few people who said if there is no conformation they dont care, But if you dont care then why take the time post a reply. Anyway not trying to start an argument just makes me not want to post.

Not to steer this thread off topic (Cos if this news is true, it's very exciting), but I think there are negative people everywhere, and on every message board.
A lot of times, they are the first to post too. I've made a couple posts about various things, and generally the first people to comment are the Negative-Nancys.
On the other hand though, this forum is subjected to a lot of speculation threads, so I can also understand someone saying they want more evidence.

Anyways, I am going to check out my local Best Buy and talk with an employee I know tonight and see if any of this jives with what's being discussed

Here is something to think about.

The best way to know if your local retailer is dropping HD-DVD, ask if they are getting specific HD-DVD titles releasing at the end of March or in April.

March titles have prebooked already so if in fact retailers are dropping support for them at that time, sales managers would know because they won't have anything on their prebooks.

For instance ask if they are going to have Sweeney Todd on HD-DVD April 1st or maybe even I Am Legend later in April.

Honestly I can't imagine retailers making these decisions secretly and not saying anything. If I had to guess the time which retailers will go Blu-ray exclusive will be sometime in May/June. There is no reason to really rush right now though.......this is the slow time as far as sales go so as long as everything is in place starting in Aug 2008 they'll be good to go.

We have enough B&M employees on this site to keep an eye on these things.

I'll wait for someone with a little better intel before I get excited.

I do check the instore availability of the HD-DVD players daily at CCity and BBuy

A35 seems MIA at both

Mid march is gonna be awesome between the Food City 500 at Bristol and then HD-DVD's retail death.

I would rather they do this yesterday but if it's going down in March I guess that would be good enough.

I really can't wait till I can browse through best buy and not see any HD DUD crap period. (Thought they run a demo of sorts at my Best Buy that's a lot more impressive then that Superbowl turkey of an ad they had.)

Everybody kick that crappy format to the curb.

If people want to spend their time on the phone with their local retailers to find out something that's going to happen anyway, let them do so.
It's not pointless if you're curious if it's true or not. I for one was curious when all the HD DVD players were clearanced at Circuit City so I went to Best Buy to see what they were doing (no new players, only open boxed items). If this bothers you enough so that you keep posting saying it's pointless, maybe you shouldn't be in this thread. The rest of us seem to get it, but you seem to be complaining about it.

FYI... the A35 is on-line only at CCity. We only stock the A3 and A30 in stores

I'm not complaining, I'm just pointing out the pointlessness of going out of our way to call. I do actually find the idea of this being true interesting, just not enough so that I really have any intention of going out of my way to look further into it.
