Hope Damien's not as irritating as he is in the comics.

Well I hope this means they can take their time w/ Pattison's Batman and not rush a rookie Batman w/ a sidekick too fast. Or not even introduce a sidekick at all if this gets a trilogy.

Robin will have plenty of shine on B&tB.

I love the idea of Robin returning and i love the idea of it being a wayward Damien Wayne, but the title Brave and the Bold evokes memories of the more goofy cartoon series in my mind. Luckily i think most general audiences won't connect it that way or at least they won't if the actual movies not goofy.

The Batman in this and Battison being on screen at the same sort of time is going to be interesting to observe because i don't technically think we have got multiple actors playing characters at the same time in the same medium like a movie unless it was deliberately part of the story like a doppelganger etc.

I'm a Batman stan which means I'm invested in this by default, but I won't lie, I've never been a Damian Wayne fan.

We've already got two right now. ZSJL came out 2021 with Batfleck, The Batman with Pattinson in 2022, and allegedly we're getting Batfleck again in The Flash and Aquaman 2 in 2023.

If you count Keaton in The Flash, and if this new movie comes out in or before 2026, we'll have 4 live action Batmen in only 4 years.

I only know Damien from the animated movies. I don’t find him irritating at all. I like that he has an edge to him.

Damien Wayne is totally annoying (that's his charm?) but he's not anywhere near as bad as Scrappy-Doo

Batman and Damien's relationship summed up in Injustice 2:

Batman: I don't have time for this, Damien
Damien: A good father would make time.
Batman: A better son would deserve it.

If they get this right, then we have something.

For me personally, i don't count Batfleck and Battison because the Snyder Cut releasing when it did didn't count as a cinema movie release with a current ongoing plan to keep going. It was the final bow on the whole DCEU sorta thing he kickstarted and righted the changes of the Whedon cut of JL.

Reeves Batman is or was a direct replacement once no further Batfleck content was ever going to come and the alleged cameo in Flash is also apparently being cut/dropped or rejigged, however, what's weird to me is that Gunn specifically references Flash as being tied to the new movies directly whereas Mamoa and Gadot are merely seen as being invited to reprise their respective roles under a completely new direction/timeline it almost seems.

The whole thing doesn't seem like they've committed to a "clean break" on one side, yet mostly all the stuff they want to do is at the price of dropping pretty much everything before.

Personally i hope the DC stuff works out as i've always wanted to see both do well. It's a golden age foe CBMs but Marvel imo has had some recent fumbles in their formula imo post-Endgame as they again, imo struggle to fully establish themselves a future road.

Phase 1 was seen as a bit of a happy coincidence that worked out but once they got the pieces moving, it's silly to try and compare the behemoth the MCU became and the connected nature of it back to Phase 1 like they're back at trying to connect properties with a really loose attachment.

Fair enough on ZSJL, but if Batfleck has an even somewhat substantial role in The Flash or Aquaman 2 (And he has said that he does) then my point still stands that we have overlapping Batmen. We'll have to wait and see to know for sure.

My 2 cents: The Flash is obviously setting up the DC Multiverse--on that alone, regardless of what the movie does or does not setup, you can interpret it as being "connected" to the new DCU in the same way that Doctor Strange 2 "connected" the Fox X-Men and the MCU. In that movie, Xavier was not the same Xavier we see in any of the Fox X-Men timelines, but by being the same actor we the audience can infer that the X-Men series is a part of the MCU Multiverse (And the upcoming Deadpool 3 will almost definitely confirm that).

So The Flash and Aquaman 2 come out, effectively closing out the Snyder era continuity, but we will likely retain some of the old actors going forward. Margo Robbie could appear as Quinn alongside a new Joker, Gal Gadot might return as WW alongside a new Batman, etc. It might be a little confusing to general audiences, but I think with the multiverse already established, people will get it.

I expect we won't know what is actually part of the new continuity until this year's movies come out, because if a movie is not going to be part of continuity they won't destroy the hype by saying that. But I predict these movies will serve as a "Chapter 0" and be a full part of the DCU:
  • Wonder Woman/WW88 (Likely dependent on whether they can get Gadot back)
  • Shazam! (Only DCEU connection is a very brief Supes cameo that conveniently does not show his face)
  • Shazam! Fury of the Gods
  • The Suicide Squad
  • Peacemaker
  • Blue Beetle

The rivalry between Damian and Grayson is just as important as Bruce and Damian. The other sons have to be there. They can save Red Hood, as Jason is still his one failure. That failure is what pushes Bruce to give Damian so many chances.

To each their own, but I highly doubt Gunn is going to reference Injustice for well, ANYTHING.

So what are the odds this is an actual fun action flick and not a miserable, rainy suicide note of a movie?

I'd even settle for somewhere inbetween.
