id stand behind def techs any day of the year as well.

i have an all mythos setup and it ... is ... awesome. def techs definitely have a great "bang for your buck" factor as well. you can sneak out of the store with an entire 7.1 setup without breaking the bank as well.

For speakers, your best bet is to go audition as many different types of towers that you can, preferably with the receiver you want to purchase. Speaker / receiver combinations can make a huge difference, so finding the right combination would be key. Also, you probably would benefit from listening to different speaker types as well. Silk dome tweeters sound differently than ribbon tweeters, or horned metal tweeters such as those by manufactures like Klipsch. Some people's ears prefer different types of drivers.

Personally, I've never liked Klipsch speakers because I find the treble to be too forward and fatigueing to me. Others swear by Klipsch. Personally, I lover magnetic ribbon tweeters. Ribbon tweeters tend to sound more natural and airy to me, especially with voices and instruments. Ribbon tweeters are a lot harder to find in speakers though, so it may be hard to find some to audition.

The majority of speakers you'll find out there have domed tweeters, either silk or metallic. Great speakers to check out in the domed variety include B&W, Paradigm, and Monitor Audio. B&Ws are expensive, but they are absolutely breathtaking. Paradigm and Monitor Audio offer some of the best bang for the buck speakers available today, and both lines have great build quality.

Beware of tiny home theater speakers-in-a-box coupled with a subwoofer though. Tiny speakers commonly have a substantial lack of midrange just due to their physical size, so be aware of that during your shopping.

Just take the time to audition several different types of speakers in order to figure out what sounds good to you. Following that approach should allow you to find speakers that you'll be happy with for quite some time.

I'll second the suggestion above that the best course is to audition as many speakers as possible. But don't get too critical in the shop and they'll sound totally different in your room.

No one has mentioned Axiom M80s yet so I'll toss those out as a suggestion. Killer towers that can be had for $1200/pair through Axiom's online factory outlet. The pro reviews absolutely rave about them and I definitely won't be replacing mine for quite some time.

Default love boston acustics

If you can go to a circuit city and check out some boston speakers. they have the newest models on sale. If you don't mind buying online check out audio advisor they have great deals and have bought from them before. They have some towers that retailed for a grand selling for half the price for the pair.

I also recommend Onkyo, Yamaha, Denon, and Harmon.

I sold audio for Good Guys and Circuit for a couple years.

With this setup, I don't feel a need for surround sound speakers because the RTi8's do such a good job of filling the room with sound. Can't go wrong there.

Default infinity is a good speaker

Any infinity speakers are good. They are manufactured by Harman Int. who makes Harman Kardon, JBL, and Infinity. What's your price range, obvisously the more you spend the more you get but some times you don't get that much more. Especially if it is mainly for movies. Differences in speakers for the most part does not show unless listening to music.

im mostly gonna use it for movies and gaming, not too much for music though. my price range is 1500-2000. im really leaning on 2 front towers so im guessing im gonna be getting the package of infinity with the 2 front tower speaker. im just scared that im paying too much for it. im just wondering mostly if the price is good for the package.

Even with a budget set in stone, you'd have to audition several speakers, and I suggest an in-home audition.

Default audition

You must try out speakers to see if they are right for you. Many speakers have all different kinds of sounds. You might be able to find speakers for less that satisfy you but it might take a little more time than just picking an ensamble.
