Default Best Comp Speakers For The Buck?

Hey Guys,

I am looking for a 2.1 or 2.0 speaker system for my computer for music only. My price range is around $100 but even cheaper would be better.

Thanks

Check out this system from Logitech.

Disregard the MSRP.....I paid less than $100 at TigerDirect in Canada. (NEW not refurbished)

1) Creative Labs Soundworks are the best value for my money. We have some hooked to our computer at home and they sound way better than the PSB's we have producing TV sound.

2) My question is can you have your sound running to an external receiver let's say Yamaha and have them running Paradigm's or B&W.

I'm not sure if you were asking if the OP could hook his computer up to a receiver or if that was just a general question, but yes you can. Some motherboards have onboard HDMI to transfer both video and audio. But if you don't have one of these mother boards you can output video and audio from some ATI video cards. Another option is video out from the video card and audio out from a HD sound card. You can use multichannel analog or HDMI, but the HDMI cards are buggy and expensive.

I'm currently using an Nvidia video card to output video and my onboard HD audio to output audio over multichannel analog cables. I am using an Onkyo 605 and Polk 5.1 RM6750.

I recommend this type of setup everytime someone asks for a 2.1 PC setup.

http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=302-601

That 2 channel amp has preouts for a sub, switchable inputs, auto sensing power for auto on/off. I used it on my setup and it has PLENTY of power to power my bookshelves. It has RCA inputs. Before I upgraded my sound card, I just used an adapter from the onboard 5.1 out from my MOBO (those microphone sized plugs) That worked fine. However, I upgraded to an M-Audio 2496 with high quality 2 channel RCA outs.

So add some quality bookshelves and a small sub. That will blow away most PC speaker sets.

This is a great sub for the price. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/psho...number=300-390

I used these bookshelves: http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_...products_id=94

Thumbs up Great Topic for the PC

Okay ladies and gents. I love this topic and have been waiting for it. I would have to say that the Logitech Z-2300 THX Certified 2.1 System is at Tigerdirect right now for $129.00. It is a freaking rocking system. They are $110.00 at newegg.com. I would also try pricegrabber.com to compare the retailers. You can also put in your zip code for tax purposes as well. I would also try pricewatch.com. I love this site. Just straight to the point.

Now, Mr. HiDef, I have these speakers and I love them:

I love these Bose 2.0 speakers and they really rock. Especially with music and when I am looking at a Blu-Ray movie. I've had them for at least seven years and not a problem at all. Look at the price of $89.99. Sale ends 3/14/09.

I would also look at these speakers too:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16836127010

M-Audio has come a long way with desktop speakers. However, they are primarily made for audio mixing and editing music. Yet they can take a punch. The M-Audio's are for music only, but can be utilized as a dedicated gaming sytem and movie viewing option. Or a freaking good multimedia experience overall. Good luck Mr. HiDef. Finally, we need all topics based on computer peripherals in these forums. I love it. Peace....

For $100, the M-Audio AV 30 would be a nice choice. I have the AV 40.
