So it's DEFO this month? Well...that was last month.

Issues happen. How you communicate is what keeps people from pre-ordering or not ever again. Irregular - not even monthly - word isn't good enough. Especially when you miss deadlines YOU told people about.

But they've posted on FB this morning

"Hello all,
Here at Malombra it seems that when things might go bad, they get worse.
The restoration of The Road To Fort Alamo is finished; still, the film presents serious abnormalities of colour we did not expect in the two damaged rolls that our restorers have saved from acetic syndrome. Such abnormalities did not occur to me in the first place but are clearly affecting the quality of the film as the pressing company has brought up with urgency.
What is happening now?
The two rolls are being re-scanned together with an undamaged inter-positive film copy that has been located in a second laboratory. I will personally check the status of scanning and colouring on Tuesday the 14th and, if the results are satisfying, I will send the film for pressing anew.
As I have encountered one too many difficulties since Malombra has started in business, I have hired a collaborator who will now deal with all aspects of promotion and shipping; this will allow me to oversee restorations thoroughly and as carefully as I would like to.
I’m truly sorry for the long wait and the many inconveniences the company has brought to his early customers; I can’t apologise enough for all of this.
I will update you all on Tuesday.
Best and beyond,
Elia Ferroli"

It's daft they don't say we need another six months or whatever. If film is being re-scanned, we're months away from the actual release surely.

Actually , sorry, I should have toned down my response a little bit. I responded before I read the last sentence.

Seeing now they didn't promise to start delivering on Tuesday or anything, just another update. This is the right approach. However, really there needs to be a lesson learned from all of the previous communications that after delays or obstacles promise to solve the problems in unrealistic time frames or ended up not delivering promised pressed discs etc.

The lessons may be too late. Small labels live on pre-orders. Who the hell trusts a label who doesn't just stay on top of comms but waits till weeks (2 months the last time) after deadlines to say "so...update, bad news.."

Tuesday came and went two days ago and was there the promised update. Of course not.

As I've said before I'm ok with waiting however long it takes to give us the best release they can, but communications-wise they just seem to be sinking into a bottomless hole of potential cancellation...

Got an e-mail...

Hello all,

Sorry to give you an update just now.

The Road to Fort Alamo is currently being re-coloured; we have done our best to recover the damaged footage from the new reels that have been located here in Rome; nonetheless, such reels are not original negatives and their quality will slightly differ from the rest of the film. This will be noticeable just for a few clips and the colourists are working hard to make them as good as they can be. I'm sure you will all be pleased with the final results: I will share some shots as soon as they are ready.

I will be seeing the results next week and will send a new update!

Best and beyond,

Elia Ferroli

An e-mail update

Quote:
Hello all,

I hope you're all doing well.

The Road to Fort Alamo has been re-coloured and the damaged scenes remastered; I will pick-up the new version on Monday and send it for authoring and pressing. I'm happy to announce that this is the best version of the film in existence; still, you will see some minor damage due to acetic syndrome of a few clips and the inter-negatives that have been cut in the original version (Nobody knows the reason for this...).

Nonetheless, you won't be disappointed and I'm glad that all of Malombra's collaborators have managed to digitalise Alamo before the negatives were completely ruined and unusable.

I will update you again as soon as the pressing has been done.

Best and beyond,

Elia Ferroli

Their amazing CS continues. The discs are pressed but are in Germany...they can't guarantee delivery to us by Christmas.

They sent that update late on the 22nd of December....yeah, I think that not getting them to us for stocking fillers is a safe bet!

Radio silence and ignored emails. That's 2 weeks ago they were pressed and ready in Germany...the haulage industry closes for one day.

Lack of comms is shocking from this mob.

Latest update:

Quote:
Hello all,

I hope you're all doing well.

We are finally receiving the pressed copies of The Road to Fort Alamo this Friday! We already have everything else ready for shipping to start! We are looking forward to share this wonderful edition with you. Of course, you know of all the issues we had; nonetheless, we are happy to present you the best version of Alamo available on the market, and possibly that will be ever made (since the deterioration of the original negatives seems to be unstoppable).

Thank you again for all the wonderful support.

Best and beyond,

Elia Ferroli

I guess at this point I'm expecting them to start shipping in a month or two... at least the first film actually did get shipped eventually.

For what it's worth, the Malombra website shows that I don't even have any orders. (I have received Sex of Angels about a year ago)
