Hey Peech:

Shouldn't it be "irk" instead of "erk"?

The thread of this title made me think of "Mommas, don't let your babies to grow up to be cowboys" except I guess it would be "Don't let your babies grow up to watch HD DVD"

I'm not interested in challenging anyone else's parenting ideas, but promoting TV viewing among infants has not proven to have a significant upside.
I can understand where you come from, but understand my perspective in my silent world. We can not hear anything at all! NONE! Your child will learn a lot while hearing music, languages, etc from ANYWHERE, not only TV! My son will learn a lot from his parents, friends and family. But, i would like to for him to learn extra and enjoy tv.

My son is babysat by a HEARING woman that does not know any sign language but she is trying to learn, a sweet woman that i trust with my child. She handles other hearing children and said my baby is the easy one. Other babies there has their own music box or tapes from mommy. Of course when they listen, they are learning words or noise to speak their first word. My child cant listen and he depends on his visual from eyes. When he is away from home, I would like have a tv show that has deaf people and use sign language, his culture primary language instead of watch hearing sweet woman trying to make him lipread. I also can video myself and read/sign a story for him to learn language. I m new in my home town and i do not trust anyone else to babysit him yet. I am thinking about my son here, and want him to learn stuff while I am at work. Yes deaf's equipments are EXPENSIVE, always extra cost this and that. Its ok because I am used to it and want my son to have his own technology that i never had before.

Our cat isn't always real interested in the picture, but sometimes the sound seems to get her wound up. She acts like she hears all kinds of goof stuff

My border collie likes to watch frisbee events on the big screen.

My kids love BDs and they are spoiled. They immediately point out how crappy DVDs look. My son doesn't like to watch them on the 1080i TV any more actually and always goes to the 1080p whenever he can. And he is not an expert in such things... he only knows the difference because there really IS a difference despite what some people may claim.

Both of my kids love Cars,Rat,and the P.O.T.C movies. My son is autistic and cannot speak hardly at all, but is very visual so he loves the Disney movies on Blu.

I have only just got Cars and Ratatouille today.. sat down to watch ratatoullie this evening whilst getting my 2 month old son to sleep and he did sit there wide eyed looking at all the rich colours.

I may have to see how he reacts to Cars tomorrow!

My daughter (13yrs) makes fun of my obsession with my tv and Blu-ray.

She lives with her mother out of state and is on a year-round school schedule so I only get her for about three weeks during the holiday season, and about six weeks during summer.

So I try to stock up on movies I know she would like and force her to watch them with me.

Which remindes me, High School Musical...

My two year old loves Cars on Blu-ray. Chicken Little, Dinosaurs and Ratatouille don't hold his attention much, so I stick with Thomas the Thomas the Tank Engine, Dora or Diego, which I let him enjoy on the weekends on standard DVD. We try to avoid letting him watch TV Monday thru Friday, but let him marinate in front of the TV for a few hours during the weekend. To answer the original question, my son calls everything "Boo-way" even if it's a regular DVD.
