Default Blu-Ray for Children

My two year old absolutely loves Cars. If anything more for the sound and visuals since he's still too young to really understand the story. But I can't lie. I probably enjoy it more than he does.

Anyway, I'm wondering if there are plans to put out children programming on BD such as Dora, Diego, Little Einsteins, Backyardigans, Doodlebops, Mickey Mouse Club House, etc., and wonder how long it'll be before they're made available for sale. Of course I don't intend for my little man to stay planted in front of the television all day long, but for the times when weather won't permit outdoor or other recreational activities. Besides, I'm always looking for an excuse to play BDs. LOL Thoughts?

I havent heard anything offical but I do work at Target and see how well those DVD's do sell, its insane. Im assuming Disney would jump on the ball before anyone else with their shows for young kids. If im not mistaken Nick is owned by Paramount so any chance of those shows being on Blu wouldn't be for a while at best since they are only HD DVD right now.

Unfortunately there is no news of porting those kinds of programs to Blu-ray at the moment. I am sure, however, that if you kept voicing your desire for such media here you will be fairly heard.

Well I've got two of the five you mentioned, but Ratatouille just doesn't hold his attention. I currently have Open Season, Surf's Up and Meet The Robinsons in my shopping cart so I guess I'll pull the trigger on those titles.

Thanks for the information. Yeah, I've got some Nick shows for my little dude that look pretty good in SD as is, so it's really no big deal. I guess I'll go out and just get the regular stuff for the time being.

I know this may not sound so great and all, but to be honest (and it is just my opinion) dvd is just fine for younger children (and more cost effective since they will end up growing out of it)

You can ask Disney about Einsteins and Mickey--

As to why you'd be asking Disney about Paramount/Nick owned titles like Dora, Diego and Backyardigans, however, is a bit of a mystery.

Ratatouille is really an adult movie that kids can enjoy. Try watching it while thinking of Remy as Pixar, the evil chef as Eisner, the food critic as animation lovers, and his hero chef as Walt Disney.

It becomes a completely different movie when looked through those eyes.

It certainly did become a different movie for fans when viewed after "Meet the Robinsons" (which did reflect the change in regime)...

But that's more overly-wishful thinking--Actually, the original Jan Pinkava story was going to focus on the Evil Chef's plots, and taking credit for Remy's recipes, and the critic barely figured in the original story at all...
At least before Brad and John tried to "Pixar-ize" a tighter and more involving plot, because they were worried about the midstream change of project.

One that hasn't been mentioned yet, The Wild.
Some pretty impressive PQ on many scenes and it will appeal to kids and adults alike.
