Never actually seen this. I'll be watching it soon.

Very nice with chat with Cronenberg Snr and he mentions Possessor and his son:

I don't think there was any artistic purpose behind making it, was there? It's just something that was done to keep those poor sensitive people happy and allow the film to play in US theaters. It's served that purpose, why prolong the silliness by preserving it on disc?
but it played unrated in the us. i think the r rated version was just to be in retailers and on streaming. (which you need. because too many people only watch stuff for free and don’t support stuff like this when it comes out.)

it costs them money to play in theatres. when no one shows up, they have to try and get that money somehow.

Watched this today and really liked it. Top cast.

Not decided if the vanilla version will do.

Can anybody confirm with certainty whether the Second Sight Possessor release is, in fact, the uncut version? Second Sight appeared to confirm that it was uncut on Twitter (by simply responding, "Yep!" to the question), but there seems to be some discrepancies with runtimes and I've seen one reviewer on YouTube even express disappointment that they didn't get the uncut version—and claimed to notice a "lack of erection" in the Second Sight release. I'm baffled that there are people confidently saying that it both IS and ISN'T the uncut version.

They responded on twitter when asked at pre-order launch that it was the "uncut" version.

If there's no boner, that means it is cut.

Yeah I know. I literally mentioned that in the post you're quoting. My confusion stems from the fact that some are disputing that tweet. Some people are claiming that the version on the Second Sight 4K is, in fact, not the uncut version. While others are maintaining that it is. The only person who's given me much evidence to actually support their claim is a random reviewer who noted a lack of peen in the Second Sight 4K. But then even in the comments on that video there are people disputing that (but THOSE people only back up their claim by citing the aforementioned tweet; they never actually say, "I own it and there is, indeed, peen on screen").

Even in this thread since I made my post, there seems to be confusion and people providing answers that either a) aren't actually providing any evidence or b) might be confused about what movie we're even discussing.

I already own Possessor. I would be interested in upgrading to Second Sight's edition, but would be less motivated to upgrade if the release actually represents a compromised version of the film. Not because "no boner, no sale", but just because I typically prefer the version that most clearly represents the director's vision when available. Boner's just icing on the cake.

Anyway.. genuinely curious: Can somebody familiar with both cuts of the film—and who actually has the Second Sight 4K release on hand—confirm with certainty the Second Sight has the uncut or cut version? And if it is, indeed, uncut, does anybody know what would explain the apparently 4-minute discrepancy in run time between this and the previous UK uncut release?

Includes the timestamps for those not familiar with the movie and only have the SS version. I have the Turbine version, so don't think I'll be double dipping here, but still curious about the SS release.

Oh I know you did, I just trust Second Sight to release the version they state. My copy arrives today, but won't be able to check it for a few days, a few folks here already have copies and I have no doubt it would have already been brought up here if it was the case.

Much appreciated! I do trust that Second Sight would be honest about which version they were releasing. I just find it odd that the only person I've been able to find on YouTube who actually commented at length about the film (instead of just fawning, rightfully so, at the beautiful packaging) specifically noted that the Second Sight seemed to be missing some of the most explicit sexual elements present in the previous Possessor Uncut 4K. But who knows. This bloke also said he thought the Well Go USA 4K was a better transfer than the Second Sight one—which seems unlikely based on every other review I've read.

I figured if anybody would have analyzed this release with a fine tooth comb and could provide a definitive answer to some of these questions, they'd be on this forum. But I'm surprised to see almost no discussion in this thread at all.

Thanks in advance to anybody who picked this up and is able to shed light on this! (Truth be told, I might be inclined to pull the trigger on the upgrade either way. I mean... that packaging.)

The uncut bedroom bit is definitely in the 4k but haven't checked the rest.

The UHD encode I looked at a while back was definitely the uncut version.
