Specs announced. VC-1 with DD 5.1 English/Spanish/French.
It would seem they aren't including a Japanese track. I hope this is not the case but if so, I won't be purchasing this.

Not to mention the fact the 2 disc special edition standard DVD does give you the choice of English or Japanese

I'll tell you exactly why

There is no Blu coming out from the Japanese distributor

This is one of the penalties of being one big happy region.

The same thing happened with Bandai wanted to put the original Gundam series out on DVD in the US, they were only allowed to put it out dubbed.

Expecially since the Japanese DVD is twice the price of the US Blu, Japanese nerds know what AMazon.com is just as well as we do

That is going to seriously give them some pain in the wallet then.
Either they learn to put english subtitles on the japanese versions and I will happily import, or they put japanese tracks on the english releases or they can rot.

This is the conundrum, seriously

You want the releases fast, then Japanese tracks are definately a point of contention. While it's certainly possible there will be a Japanese release on Blu at some point that will have subs. There is no "learn" involved, it's called protecting your territory, and since region coding can't do it, you have to make it undesireable to that audience.

I have submitted this question to the WB people to see if it's just an error, but I have the feeling it's not.
