I would be nice so I could watch movies in my car , or on planes.
But the Blu side would have to be 100% PQ & AQ
I have only bought 1 DVD in the last year and 2 months Knocked Up.
165 on BLU.

I don't agree. Blu is the future. Standard DVDs are the past. If you have a Blu player, what's the point of having an SD version of the same movie? None.

The closest thing on blu like that exists in Japan with many anime films - there sold not as a combo disk but rather two separate disks, one blu and one SD in the box. The down side is they're ridiculously expensive approaching $80. ONe of the most incredible looking blu's I've seen (demo at store) is Innoncense: Ghost in the Shell but that high price has kept it out of my collection. In another year or so I think we'll cheap players so a 2nd or 3rd one should be affordable.

VHS looks so great on 1080p sets... if you havent tried it... you havent lived...


no seriously though i would freak so bad if combo discs made there way to BD... i think its safe to say this wont happen.

HD DVD put out combo discs because they don't want either format to take over...

the idea is to still keep DVD in the picture...

Blu-ray wants to take over DVD....not share the playing field...
