You can just continue. "In every generation there is a chosen one" remember? Buffy(SMG) can come back in the Giles role for this generations new slayer.

A noble idea, but that role is usually taken by a member of the Watcher's Council. Buffy wouldn't qualify.

In the penultimate episode of the first season Buffy and the new scooby gang are about to face their toughest challenge yet and Buffy has to call in some help. The final scene is Angel, Cordellia, Willow, Xander and Faith turning up to help kick ass for the final episode.

Another cool idea, though they'd have to use heavy makeup or CGI on David Boreanaz to make him look 20 years younger.

That was one thing I hated, the whole "we're all potential slayers" nonsense. It went against the premise of the whole show, and wasn't necessary at all.

The potential slayers was still a very small group. It certainly wasn't everyone.

Even so, the point of the show was that the power of the Slayer belonged to one person at a time. When the current Slayer died, another was chosen to take her place. Buffy died at least once, which is how Faith entered the picture. I don't remember how Kennedy's entrance was explained.

Then you should be happy that the new show is a reboot instead of a continuation. The only way to make the show about a single Slayer is to start over.

Kennedy was just a potentional Slayer, nothing needed to be explained.

Or did you mean Kendra? Kendra came before Faith. Kendra's death is what caused Faith to be activated.

OK, I probably confused the two. Its been at least 20 years since I watched an episode of Buffy, and I largely left it behind after Season 3.

If anything is set in the original show's continuity 20+ years later, it doesn't have to be Buffy or indeed any member of the older cast.

All the Potentials in the world got their Slayer powers, so there should be plenty of options.

I think that exact plot is the reason why they're doing a reboot instead of a continuation. A show about The Slayer is likely to be more popular than a show about an army of slayers (and a lot cheaper to make too).

Well the comics are cannon and I was kinda looking at it like after she leaves the slayer army she could be out on patrol one day (as a police officer) and come across some vampire/slayer shenanigans that bring her back into the fold.

The comics are another reason to do a reboot. A new series shouldn't assume that viewers are familiar with the comics. It's better to start fresh then follow both a TV show and a comic series.

You can say that about any franchise these days though. Look at Star Wars and all the guff that surrounds that.

Should the producers of Fast and the Furious 12 assume that everybody watched F&F Spy Racers?.

I don't want a reboot but this is a fair point about a continuation. This is the frustrating thing about when Hollywood bring things back is how often they make everyone's lives suck and undo the ending they gave before.

to me the word reboot is just another name for a remake and we know that remakes are never a good idea cause the never work so why would they want to ruin a great show like buffy' if they get the wrong actor to play buffy and the wrong actors to play the other characters then it will just be another show to be cancelled after the 1st season or what if the change the names of the characters like willow or Giles and what if they are not in it.

I wouldn't say that remakes never work, but it is rare. As previously mentioned, the TV show is basically a remake of the Kristy Swanson film, and there's some exceptions that broke away from convention. Smallville ran for ten years, and that was partly based on the earlier scenes from the 1978 Superman movie starring Jeff East as Clark.

First of all the 1997 show is a remake of the 1992 movie so that makes your statement that "remakes are never a good idea" a ridiculous thing to say. Secondly regardless of how good or bad the new show is it won't ruin the 1997 show; it won't have any effect on it one way or another.

I'm interested in seeing a a new take on the characters and concept.

No Joss involvement is a HUGE downside, but it’s SMG as Buffy so I can’t help being excited and hoping for the best. I need to see middle-aged Buffy Summers in live-action.

I doubt it but hopefully we could finally see the blu ray for buffy and angel after this.
