The theatrical teaser poster makes Spock look like a Transformer then

Would have preferred something more colorful like this. Imagine that middle part without any border, glossy, and a clear slip over it for the title. It would look really great.

Yeah but that's the point I think, that they've already used the key art on the regular UHD editions (and indeed the previous line of Blu steels they did for the Trek movies) so they're going with something OG but not the main art.

Very well done, they seemed to have punched up the right colors to make it look a bit more elegant. BUT, this is hardly anyone's favorite Star Trek movie, I'll wait for a Black Friday deal.

There's going to be a WM Exclusive with mini-poster and reproduction theatrical promo booklet.

At least it's not a new Photoshop cover from an agency, even if I think the cover of the Blu-ray Disc Steelbook is much better. The back is even really nice here, as is the print on the inside.

Of course it would be great if Spock's face was embossed. But why another Steelbook without a title on the cover?

I mean, it's on the slipcover. It's fun, it's nice, it looks classy.

The problem with these slipcases is that they can scratch the Steelbooks and the plastic becomes brittle over time.

Why should it be fun, nice and classy? The movie title should be printed on a Steelbook, so you also have the option of using finishes such as embossing and UV varnish.

What would interest me is what the nonsense is about with the missing titles on the Steelbooks, currently The Crow and Star Trek III.

[Show spoiler]
I agree, and it's kind of ironic given Nimoy's involvement with The Transformers: The Movie just a couple of years later. Not all original art is great and this teaser poster certainly wasn't, but Paramount have made it that much worse by altering the color from teal to blue and removing the original "JOIN THE SEARCH." teaser text. I get that textless SteelBooks probably cost less and can be identical worldwide, but they're already printing the film title in English on the spine of the SteelBook anyway, so why not include the teaser poster text on the front, or at least, on the slipcover?

And talking of the spine and slipcover, since these SteelBooks are still Blu-ray-sized, it would be great to have the UHD Blu-ray format logo somewhere, either on the spine or again at least on the slipcover, if only so that x number of years from now, I still know what disc is in there just by sight. It still puzzles me that SteelBook nutters aren't up in arms over this common omission, but I guess that's another reason why I don't get far into this type of collecting. Having said that, I would buy this if it had more accurate color and the aforementioned changes, but as it is, it just looks like a giant blue Spock Transformer head.

I have never had a plastic case scratch a steelbook, they literally make protectors of the same material to keep them in to protect from that. Get an oversize one and put it in there.

Ok,now I know you've got to be trolling. Not every steelbook needs the same design choices. A missing title isn't the end of the world, it's not that hard to look at the spine if you can't figure it out.

As much as I would like the tile on the front with some cool 'bossing, it could be worse...

there could be no title on the spine!
