No idea, but you might pick up The Real Ghostbusters: A Visual History book that just released recently, haven’t gotten a copy yet myself but it’s on my list.

I picked up the boxset for my nephew as he had never seen it before but loved the 2 original movies. I also tried to get him into Extreme Ghostbusters but couldn't find a decent series set to buy.

There is a dvd box set of Extreme Ghostbusters available. According to the Ghostbusters News website, the series is currently on offer for digital purchase.

Completely disagree with that. Their track 'Bogieman' which plays in Knock Knock is really good, and the whole scene I mentioned is based around the song.
There are times their stuff was used that it maybe didn't always fit, but that wasn't always the case. Still better than the constant repetition of the Ghostbusters theme which is what so many episodes are lumbered with on the time life set.

It's a shame really that the Time Life set didn't dip it's foot into soundtrack CDs. Would have been nice if it had a disc of the Tahiti music (been OOP for years apparently), and some of the Saban/Levy music from the show on a second CD.

Year and a half later and I still haven't finished it, watched a few more after the last film was released as it got me back in the mood but again after a few episode I stopped and never went back

For me this is the second best cartoon series ever, after Thundercats (or at least the first season of Thundercats). Being a big Ghostbusters fan obviously helps, but the quality of this show, and the sheer variety of the stories helps keep me engaged. The only downside of it to me (other than the obvious toning down and recasting that happened), was that there were never any multipart episodes. Would have been nice to have a couple here and there.

On a related note, the new Ghostbusters animated series that's in the works sounds awful. Sounds a lot like 'Junior Ghostbusters The Series'.

Besides Boogeyman, I've always been partial to Midnight Action as well. Those two have made it to my Halloween/Ghostbusters playlist.

As much as I love the cartoon, I feel the downgrade of the series left such a bad taste I end up stopping at The Grundel episode upon rewatch. Not too long after Arsenio Hall left and then the Slimer segments kicked in, so it just proved to be a good jumping off point.

Oh, and I dread to read any more information about the upcoming cartoon.

I have actually contacted MovieZyng Customer Service about them releasing the complete series on Blu-ray through Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, as it has been eight years since the Real Ghostbusters got a DVD box set.

Poultrygeist. Makes a fun double bill with Chicken He Clucked, an episode that got the shows producers apparently worried about The writers mental health when he submitted the script on account of how bizarre it was.

Did the Terror Dogs ever actually show up on the show; or was that only in the intro when it became SLIMER & The Real Ghostbusters?

According to a Ghostbusters Wiki the Terror Dogs did make cameos in a couple of episodes, Egon's Ghost and The Copycat, and were apparently also just mentioned in one or two other episodes.

I actually revisited the Copycat episodes a couple of weeks ago. It's a better episode than I remember. The Terror Dog appears in an experimental dimensional portal that Egon is working on. RGB essentially implies that there are more terror dogs than just the two from the films.
The Scaring of the Green features a creature that isn't a terror dog, but is very based around them.

That was quite a clever little idea on their part, as it helps explain some of the discrepancies between the films and cartoon show, that were ultimately forced on the latter for various reasons. It was essentially how the TV show and film events were in the same canon (at the time, but not anymore, the show was officially retconned out of canon in 2009 when the game came out) but in a kind of soft-canon way. When it was original shown on TV here in the UK it had been edited for running length. I never knew that they actually went to the cinema to see the film at the end until I had the dvd box set.
Plays well with Citizen Ghost as a kind of movie-tie in double bill.

It wouldn't surprise me if the ending was removed in case it caused seizures - even by anime standards, that's some nasty strobing in the projection scene!

All of the episodes screened on CITV back in the day were cut for running length. It was one advantage of buying the magic window VHS editions back then, that you'd get them complete.
To give CITV some credit, you'd have never known any of them had been abridged. This particular episode ended well with the announcer throwing his tantrum outside the cinema and saying 'Goodnight', which worked well. Considering how well the episodes all cut down, I sometimes wondered if they were actually written in a way to make it easy for cutting them down depending on TV channel needs. Nothing that was ever removed affected the plots in any way.
