I would not say it was really strong 3D in the trailer. While some here object to the term layering, for want of a better word I'll say the layering looked very distinct to me, it didn't look flat.

Although I'm tempering my expectations as a few months ago on here it was brought up that the 3D trailer (on the disc for Tron Legacy) for Pirates of the Caribbean IV 3D is noticeably stronger than the 3D on that film's own bluray.

Just watched today the new trailer and the movie seems to be great. Can't wait for it to be released in 3D.

Yeah, the 3D here looks promising in the trailer.
It is great that Marvel continues to support 3D in theaters with their films, and at least there is the option of Marvel 3D blu ray Japan imports for a good stretch of releases so far with Wolverine & Deadpool 3D being the most recent, though each very expensive but better than nothing at all for blu ray 3D.

For Thunderbolts 3D in theaters 2025, Black Widow 3D blu ray is a nice set up for what to expect with the main characters in that one. The family dynamic with David Harbour as the father and the daughters was entertaining.

For sure. David Harbour's Red Guardian is one of the MCU's secret weapons. Even his What If episode was excellent, with his earnest love for communism and Mother Russia. Good enough to be part of the sacred timeline.

What happened to Captain America? How or why did he end up being black and grow some wings? I'm sure there has to be a logical answer to this. Maybe I missed it but I'm sure it has something to do with all this DEI crap.

in the comics:

Quote:
In the comics, the mantle of Captain America passed from Steve Rogers to Sam Wilson in 2014. In “Captain America” No. 25 by writer Rick Remender and artist Stuart Immonen, an aged Steve gathers the Avengers to introduce Sam as the new Captain America and hands him the shield.
The wings, he's still falcon. so its a Falcon/Captain America.

you could watch "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" TV series to understand a bit more. doesn't makes sense if you missed it but it does afterward.

No need to watch The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, just remember the end of Avengers: Endgame

Nah. This makes more sense

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain America is now portrayed as a Black man because the character has passed on the mantle to Sam Wilson, also known as The Falcon, played by actor Anthony Mackie, which represents a significant step towards greater diversity and inclusion in superhero representation, particularly considering the complex history of the Captain America symbol in relation to American patriotism and racial issues.

Key points about this change:

Character progression:
After Steve Rogers (the original Captain America) retired, Sam Wilson took up the mantle, allowing for a new perspective on what it means to be Captain America in the modern world.

Representation matters:
Having a Black actor portray Captain America is seen as a positive step towards greater diversity in mainstream superhero films, allowing for stories that address racial themes and experiences.

"The Falcon and the Winter Soldier":
This shift was prominently explored in the Disney+ series "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier," where Sam grapples with the responsibility of being Captain America while confronting societal issues around race and heroism.

Again, nothing but DEI from Disney.

The forum rules state the following:

No social justice crusades, either pro or con. No debates about the behavior of persons whom a company or label employs, retains or associates with, or whose work it publishes. This site is for the discussion of Blu-ray discs, standard and 4K: their release, contents, quality and presentation. (We also have sections for DVD and streaming content, to which this same rule applies.) If you disapprove of a content provider’s conduct or politics, feel free to boycott the relevant thread by not posting in it. Kindly save any form of “culture wars” for social media.

Feel free to discuss the movie itself but this isn't the place to discuss Disney's commitment to DEI.

As has been stated, Sam Wilson was Captain America for a while, as was Bucky Barnes. You may well be right as to why Disney wanted the former for the MCU rather than the latter but the movie has to be judged on its own merits and that's what the thread is for.

I'm curious why keb33509 got banned for his comment. Was there something else that was removed?

Swervin is on my ignore list, for very good reason obviously, so I can’t tell if he’s been banned, but if he hasn’t been, I would think he should be for those comments.

The thread is for discussion of the film, not the ban status of other members.

February 14th 2025 for Brave New World 3D is around the corner with January almost over. 1/12th of the year gone already too quickly.

Action looks really good in this movie. Will be interesting if they frame the movie for some great 3D shots, or if it's filmed mostly with 2D framing in mind as some marvel movies have been at times. Usually if the tops of the characters heads are cropped off, characters not fully in the frame when they could be for a better 3D shot as an example of 2D framing.

The 3D in the trailer looks really good though, medium to strong 3D layers possible in the film.

Saw it this morning, RealD 3D. Movie opens with a different marvel studios logo. Man the cgi is rough in some parts, specially the flying gadgets and yeah the shield! maybe the 3D had a part in it specially when the shield was really close to the screen. 3D is decent, i doubt it will wow anyone tho, some missed opportunities in some parts as well. The trailer for F4 in 3D looked a lot more interesting. ah btw, a re-watch of the '08 incredible hulk will help here. Storyline is kinda convoluted at times (perhaps the fault of the many reshoots ?), still don't get the need for Giancarlo Esposito's character on this, maybe just to add to the action element of the move ?

[Show spoiler]adamantium has been introduced and its part of the main plot, we get to see a celestial (frozen up in the middle of the pacific ocean), we don't see Red Hulk until the last 20ish min of the movie and you barely see the transformation, thought it was a bit of a let down here. Honorary mention to the Wakanda's a couple of times throughout the movie. Winter soldier shows up briefly in 1 scene at the hospital

1 end credit scene, at the very end of the credits.
[Show spoiler]cap. America talking to Stern (in prison)

Well, it was much better then I thought it would be, I had a really good time. 3D was good, not great, I would say about Black Widow leven, which is fine for me.

See it in 3D guys if you can, it just gives the movie that little extra bit!
