It's not implied, it's been confirmed by Damien and David Howard Thornton. The Art the Clown we meet in Terrifer 1 is human and at the end he's possessed by the entity that is orbitting Sienna in 2 and 3.

This is confirmed in the movies, too. In the first movie he's clearly wearing makeup, at the right angles you can see the prosthetics are more exaggerated and cartoonish than the sequels. At the beginning of the second movie one of the first things Art does is look and the mirror and discover his fake nose is now his real nose. Also the make up on the whole has more natural and realistic lines, at least compared to the first movie.

Hallow's Eve, where he appears out of thin air on the road, to the lady in the car, he's supernatural in that film, so maybe that takes place after Terrifier 1.

Whether the demon enters his body or he becomes a demon in physical form, either way he's equally evil and indestructible it seems. Able to regenerate now.

So unless they find some spell or way to stop his demon spirit, he'll just keep returning in more horror films.

Let’s milk this franchise until we get an Art vs. Killer Klowns from Outer Space. It’s Art redemption arc and he becomes a hero.

I'm sure someone along the way said "This is the very last Jason 13th movie."
And "This is the very last Freddy Kruger movie".
And "This is the absolute final Michael Myers movie".

When you have a major hit of a slasher villain, there are a lot of new movies and spin off stories they'll offer fans well into the future most times.

Leone may not go on with the character after part 4, but I think someone else will want to and offer a good amount for the rights. If Damien Leone owns the rights to Art Clown, then it'll be interesting to see how it unfolds.

Look at a popular villain like Darth Maul. He died in 1 movie, but because of his popularity as a villain, has been in many animated shows including Clone Wars, Rebels, etc, and a brand new one named after him for 2026 (Maul) , and even returned in the Solo movie at the end briefly.

Comparing a Star Wars character that’s owned by a corporation to a Indie Horror icon that’s owned by one man is not the same. Thankful that if Damien indeed wants to end it after 4 it will be done.
