This was like the second Russell Crowe movie I saw, after "Romper Stomper" showed he could act. "Virtuosity" got him one step closer to breaking out big time in "L.A. Confidential" with Spacey and Pearce.

But as far as the film under discussion goes, while I like it more than many (at the time I was very interested in seeing where Crowes' US acting career would go), I now think of it as being:

1) The first film where I noticed Denzel was starting to get a little pudgy.
2) The first film to feature a certain child actor named Kaley Cuoco.

If I could choose any decade to return to, it would be the '90s and I'd stay there forever if they let me.

The 90s were not pleasant times for me past 96. Lots of cool tech and notable blockbusters, but music and culture took a nosedive in America.

Unmemorable for a good chunk for me but not bad.

You are weak and will not survive the winter.

Give me the cheesy ass techno CG vibes that aged poorly any day.

Hell, that digital artstyle that was done just because too:

Love that shit.

I saw this in the theater with my mom. It's a classic in my book. This was an instant order and a good way to start the new year.

I remember seeing this.
One night, I rented four VHS movies. They were:
Virtuosity
Saturday Night Fever
The Blue Lagoon
Top Secret!

I watched Saturday Night Fever, then laughed when right after that I watched Virtuosity, and they did the strut walk thing, you know with the-the BeeGees and everything.
The next day, I watched Blue Lagoon, then Top Secret!. I had no idea that The Blue Lagoon would be prominently referenced in Top Secret!.

That was a weird couple days. The order in which I watched them for the next movies' references is what made me kinda freak out a bit.

I worked there, so I would have had to do it anyway once I got to work.

I concur. This is not something I would ever want an LE for. I'd be fine with a barebones, single-disc 4K high-bitrate release, with accompanying BD that has the film and any special features.

I wanted to get the regular edition, but I ordered the special edition of Virtuosity to support these small boutique labels. Plus, I really like the packaging art!

In case anyone, like me, who hasn't seen this movie was looking to stream it in the wake of this announcement, it was supposed to be added to Paramount+ yesterday according to paramount themselves, but it's still not on there...

Edit: finally added.

The time capsule effect has unlimited value for me. Like if I watched Virtuosity or Lawnmower Man in the theatre at the time, maybe I would’ve thought they were dreadful. Now, they seem like quaint, bygone films, kinda like something like Santa Claus Conquers the Martians.

Probably gonna be coming soon due to Shout's love of upgrading existing Collector's Editions to 4K lately.

The hangup will be if they can get the Director’s Cut from a 4K-quality source. If not, don’t bother, sayeth I. You could put the Theatrical Cut in friggin’ 8K and I’d still go to the 1080p D.C. every time.

Weird choice IMO but the cast maybe put it over the line. I'll buy the standard edition, like with Congo.

So, just to be sure, there is a standard edition of VIRTUOSITY coming?
This is one of my favorite movies and I wouldn't want to miss out on the 4K^^
