I tried but there was so much information on the screen at once I couldn't make anything out. No one has mentioned the post credits scene as being flat so I'm wondering if my showing was unique. About 5 other people in my screening at a theater near Temple University....Maybe since this is such a smash the first one can get rereleased even though I understand the3D is underwhelming from accounts

So, the distributors have just announced they're preparing an English-dubbed version for release.

No word on whether or not this one will be distributed in 3D, but I would consider it a safe bet, since the 3D version already exists and not having subtitles makes it even easier to enjoy the 3D.

I wouldn’t consider a 3-D Blu-ray release of any new 3-D film to be a safe bet, not remotely. Although, I gotta say I’m massively surprised it took in over $2 billion and is the highest grossing animated film of all time. Crazy.

Where did you get the idea I was talking about a blu-ray release? I wasn't.

They are going to distribute the English-dubbed version in cinemas. It even says so in the story:

Quote:
CMC Pictures has already secured distribution on 1,000 screens in North America and 162 in Australia for the film. For the upcoming English dub, Ying noted that the marketing approach will shift significantly with “targeted TV advertising and social media including YouTube and TikTok,” along with a “bigger marketing budget” to reach non-Chinese audiences.

I finally saw the first movie this weekend, and I really enjoyed it, though it was heartbreaking to have to watch it flat. The last fight scene in particular looked like it would be amazing in 3D.

Here's hoping the bigger success of Part 2 warrants a stronger consideration for a home 3D release (and as long as I'm dreaming, how about a two-fer with both films?). As everyone here has noted, it's going to be a long shot. It's such a tragedy that so many films, even those seemingly designed and filmed with 3D in mind, can only be seen in 3D for a short limited run in a small number of theaters.

Be a shame if they don’t do 3D IMAX here in the US…

Has A24 done a 3D movie before? If not, this'd be a first for them.

Just got back from the last 3D show in this run. I watched the first one the other day and liked it a fair bit more than I expected. I'm a big fan of anime, martial arts/wuxia, etc, so it definitely scratched a specific itch for me. As for the sequel, while it is true that it is largely more of the same, it is substantially greater in scope and scale, and I wasn't ready for that. Having gotten the latest animated trailers prior to the movie starting, it really just highlighted how good the animation and detail truly are in the movie and how much it, at least for me, stood so much higher than even Pixar's best most of the time. 3D-wise, it is definitely the way to see the movie, but I will echo some of the earlier comments that suggest that it probably could have been (much) better as well. I did have some gripes though. The first had nothing to do with the movie itself, but with my "audience" of two other people who nearly ruined the movie by talking through most of it. I hate that the theater going experience has been replaced by people just acting like they are at home and can do whatever they want as this has been my experience a few times now. Seriously, we all paid to see the movie, just let us enjoy it. That aside, the movie is long and it feels like it as well. I think if they could have stuck to about 2 hours, that would have been ideal. The other major gripe I had was with the subtitles. Someone else called out some misspellings and whatnot littered throughout and I definitely saw each and every instance, but I also wasn't aware that they were also going to sub it in Chinese with the English translation below it. With that positioning being generally lower than it is on most subtitled theatrical subtitled content, I felt more eye fatigue than usual having to try and quickly capture the dialogue and also track the frantic action going on in the rest of the frame. I left the theater just feeling worn out but still satisfied. Of course I would love to see a 3D disc, but since the first one didn't have one, I don't have high hopes for this one. That said, if this dropped even digitally in 3D, I'd probably buy it. Will definitely buy the 4K disc regardless though.

I saw the 3D presentation this late afternoon and I thought the layering was decent on a rating scale, I'd give it a 7/10 rating. As to the animation style and action scene... uhhh epicness!!! I'll admit, I didn't see the first movie, so I was a teensy out to lunch on the some of the characters, but it was definitely overall entertaining and visually wild. I'm almost tempted to see it again on the IMAX screen (unfortunately not in 3D). While on a more different technical aspect, the 5.1 soundmix was such a disappointment - on the end credits it was denoted as being 'Dolby Vision/Atmos' I would think the Atmos mix would be significantly better.

It’s been almost a month since it opened and there’s still plenty of 3D showings in my area.

I consider this a win for 3D enthusiasts

Opens in the UK on the 21st, with previews beginning on the 14th.

Quote:
Trinity CineAsia has secured theatrical distribution rights for “Ne Zha 2” across 37 European territories, including the U.K., Ireland, Germany, France and Spain, from Beijing Enlight Media. The animated blockbuster, which has shattered box office records, will debut in the U.K. and Ireland on March 21, with previews beginning March 14.

The film follows Ne Zha, a demon child raised by humans, who must embark on a perilous quest to obtain an elixir to restore the body of his uneasy ally, the dragon prince Ao Bing. During this journey, Ne Zha uncovers a conspiracy threatening to ignite a war between good and evil.

Rooted in 16th-century Chinese mythology but offering a bold reinterpretation, “Ne Zha 2” represents a technical marvel in animation. The film was crafted over five years by a team of 4,000 animators and features nearly 2,000 visual effects shots. One battle sequence reportedly involved 200 million individually animated characters – an approach rarely implemented at this scale.

Yeah, I don't know if a lot of people outside of China can really understand all the mythology that is laid out (it feels pretty complex and not always super easy to follow)

It does require some level of understanding of the "Investiture of the Gods" to recognise the characters but most of them are pretty self-explanatory I thought through the way they interacted. What I saw was more was foreigners not getting the more Chinese concepts of the story where rebelliousness was tolerated if you've got strong filial piety (pretty much sums up Nezha) or the Chinese expectations that certain characters are devious and scheming, or the rebellion against Heaven's so called plans.

Overall Lightchaser films are more introspective (such as the White Snake Trilogy, Yang Jian or Jiang Ziya). For people who prefer live action Wuershan has directed 2 parts of the "Creation of the Gods/Fengshen Trilogy" which follows the storyline but glosses over some of the backstory in favour of getting into the main story so Nezha and Erlang Shen/Yang Jian simply show up to assist Jiang Ziya without much introduction. However, the characters are very well known in China to the point they really don't require much introduction.

Ok, prognosticators! What are the odds of a 3D BR release?
