It will be good for the Matrices to be on BD at last

All we need is Star Wars and LOTR, but that's another thread...

I was impressed by the Blu Ray conversion of Blade Runner and hope the above will be of simillar if not better standard.

Any information appreciated
The Matrix trilogy will be released on blu in December in Japan, you can do a search on cdjapan.com. There will be a very spiffy Nebudcadnesar (hope I spelled that somewhat correctly) box set containing all three movies along with the Matrix animated.

The HD-DVD versions were pefecto in my opinion so I hope the BD's deliver the goods just as well. I'm definitely hyped for this release. Man, the PQ and AQ for the HD-DVD trilogy are flawless, hopefully the same can be said for the Blu release.

not really that interested in the matrix trilogy. Matrix (the original) is an amazing movie, just a shame that 2 and 3 sucked

I guess that is a viewpoint I never really understood. I loved all three films and think they are perfectly complete. The first one introduced everything and gave us some really cool WTF moments, but the second and third one expand on that actual world and give us the resolution.

Yeah, I still have mine, but Ill sell them when the BD versions come out, as I slowly slash my HD DVD library and convert it to BD.

I only cared for the first..... and it's because the "resolution" was pretty lame, in my opinion..... the third was down-right terrible.

Really? I thought all three perfectly captured an amazing story that couldn't have ended any other way. I would almost agree that the brothers shouldn't have made the sequels specifically because of the negative reaction. But if they didn't further flesh out the amazing world they had created then fans would be as equally upset.

I personally think the sequels are unfavored because they reveal evolutions to every character, and they do not feature the amazing moments of the first one. Aside from essentially re-doing the first movie and calling it a "sequel", I don't see what else the brothers Wachowski could have done.

I think its perfect (aside from the whole flying bit..it looked horrible CGI wise and was all around stupid)

Looks like we're getting a separate release of The Animatrix on BD in the UK:

To be released on the same date as The Matrix Trilogy.

I know some people who tell me that they figured out what was going on very early in the film once the superfeats were being done before it was actually revealed in the plot.

The only thing I didn't like about the 2nd and 3rd Matrix movies was the pointlessly lengthy action sequences. I found that once I knew where they were and knew that there was nothing of any interest whatsoever in them, I fast forwarded through them on my 2nd viewing of the movies and the movies were very much improved by doing so.

I think these movies are really crying out for "fan edit" functionality, where people can share their own edits of the Blu-ray via the internet (just data on edit points, so you need to own the Blu-ray disc to be able to watch the fan edit versions), as I think they would be much better movies if they were just tightened up and had all the unnecessary footage removed.

Story-wise I think the first Matrix is probably the best. But I think the fight scenes in Reloaded are the best of the three. Although I'm just thinking about the big huge showdown in Revolutions between Neo and Smith. Having said that, I think they ruined the Burly Brawl by making so much of it obvious CG. When you see what they can do with wires and live action, it made me wonder why some of the CG shots couldn't be done with wires and live actors.

But I know this is a complaint that many people have, not just me. And not just with The Matrix trilogy. Even Superman Returns had too many CG shots of Superman when it would seem easier to just film Brandon Routh in the harness/rig.
