Default About the Matrix Trilogy

Can anyone confirm that the European pack of the Matrix Trilogy will feature all the extras of its American counterpart ? stuff like the Animatrix in High def ?
Because according to amazon.fr or amazon.co.uk it seems there will only be the three movies in the European pack and nothing else

I consider this likely because:

1] All retailers seem to agree none of the extras are going to be included

2] This is how they released the films in Europe on HD DVD (we didn't get the Ultimate boxset)

3] Sites are listing a seperate Blu-ray Animatrix release, which isn't available for stand alone purchase in the US

My understanding is the UK release is a stripped down, three movie disc set without the bells and whistles included on the US one.

What is this ? some kind of contest over at WB to see how stupid Europeans can be in paying for an inferior pack ??? I was hoping someone said that the European version would be the same but you guys confirm my worries. Looks like it will be the US pack for me and they better not region code it

Yep, just like Warners didn't make a Harry Potter set, Dirty Harry set, or any of the Digibook packaging for Europe (and most likely while the US will get a Batman set, Europe isn't).

I can understand you can't just do a dollars to pound (or euro) conversion when comparing prices, I know different economies have different taxes, average incomes and even retailers expect different mark-ups. So I'm not going to rant and rave about the US releases being half the UK price or less. But I do think its unfair when Warners don't allow us to reap the benefit of buying their product in bulk (as the US boxsets to - often with lower price points than the individual releases combined and also with boxset exclusive bonuses).

I'm guessing just the movie disks themselves will be identical to the American disks (ie. same extras) but other disks of content (the 'Matrix Experience,' 'The Animatrix,' etc.) won't be included.

That's what happened with the cheaper version of The Matrix on HDDVD in America. (The 'Matrix Trilogy' had the audio-commentaries, PiP, etc. just not the other two double-sided DVDs that were in the 'Ultimate Matrix' set)

That's my assumption too. I'm having the UK version shipped to the states for the singular reason that I was able to jump on the 14.99 pricing error when Amazon UK originally posted it and I'm not really into the additional content on the US disc set. Strange decision to stiff the Euro folks with regards to extras on a release that is bound to be highly significant to alot of people.

The US release will be region free - No Warner release so far has not.

However, if Blu-ray is to become "mainstream" in Europe, we shouldn't have to put up with over priced, under specified product. And we should have to import. The format should be inviting enough for people to make impulse or casual purchases off store shelves.

I noticed that!?!?

I was looking at the Euro-style Sarah Chronicles the other day and I think they should be a set price.

If something is 20 USD for us, then it should be around 10(ish) GBP for you....not 20 dude. Why are they taking twice as much for the same thing!?!?

I'm not even anywhere near a fair an "politically correct" type, but that is just wrong.

Unless it has something to do with shipping, but I can't see how that is...

Where are the Region 1 Blus made as opposed to yours!?!?

Can't be that different.

That would be nice, but can anybody confirm this:

German/European release

According to them (and they are very reliable) the German release will NOT have a lossless track. I was going to get the German version (so the kids can watch it some day) but this would definitely mean a US import.

Does anybody know?

I think that is a mistake on the website's part. The Spanish release (see here) will have TrueHD English and DD English/Spanish/German.

Well, I think I'll have to wait for it to be released then and check for myself. Thanks Grubert.

I read somewhere that the first movie was cut in UK. Is that true?

Yes, the UK DVD was cut, as was the version shown in cinemas.

The good news is, I beleive the UK HD-DVD released las year was uncut (they might have had it re-classified) so we can be hopeful the Blu-Ray will be as well.

UK retailers (eg play.com) are listing the Animatrix in HD as a separate item so it is unlikely to be iin the box set.

May have to check into that separate Animatrix disc... wonder if it will be region coded...
