So you Really do not care about illegally made movies and people being ripped off as long as the PQ is good

Ok, now you are just being an ass. I don't think he supports piracy but was rather struck by intellectual curiosity concerning what the quality was like. Grow up.

Good Point, sorry about that I do love Europe...not that I dont love the Asian countries either haha. I have like 13 Region 2 Dvds from Europe and the UK but they were bought there when i was visiting. I guess my point is, buying from a lot of the Asian countries where bootlegs are so prevalent kinda made me stay away from that.

I'm not sure it can be called a bootleg BD if it isn't really a Blu-ray.

It's a counterfiet DVD in BD clothing.

The guy clearlys lives in the US so I don't see why it's an issue if chooses to buy from US sellers only. With the amount of foreign sellers using the cheapest methods to ship items with no tracking numbers, I'd say it's very smart for buyers to limit their purchasing within the US and the same goes for Europeans, stick to purchasing from sellers within your region and you'll mimimize the chance of getting ripped off.

Who puts this much effort into a bootleg is beyond me.

I've posted this in the Blu-ray movie section as now it is official, its not out, even in thailand, as some google searches said were true.

Talk about professional bootlegging. It even had blu-ray previews on the disc.

Ok, now here is the pics, laugh at me.

btw, it had loads of extras, subtitles, and the menu screen was awesome :P

It was shrink wrapped, and came in a SDVD size case. It had a slip cover as you can see.

Look at the details on the back of the case, boy did they use that photoshop!

What's this, is that a tri-fold cover? With pics behind it?

Can a bootleg be anymore well made!?

Looked pretty legit actually, seeing as how some countries have big cases...

Except... It plays in the DVD PLAYER! PS3! Oh, and that damn HD-DVD Player! (which I bought just to get The Kingdom, but did that satisfy me when I saw this? lol, no, I just had to have it. Now I hate it!)

i wish the actual dvd was that good.

The majority of bootleg DVDs are made onthe same equipment in teh same plants as the legit ones after hours. Digipacks have gotten popular because they lend legitimacy to foreigners, since so many "real" ones come like that.

Keep in mind, they're still using the cheapest material avialable. Say a batch of blanks didn't quite pass QC or something. The bootleggers will use them becuase they don't care, it's just a money laundering operation for them

People in the US buy them from Triads and their reps in Chinatowns, or in bulk through the mail, and then sell them on Amazon, Ebay, half.com or on the street.

Rule of thumb- If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. If you can't fidn any record of it anywhere, Ask here.

..and another one is available for bidding on ebay. It ships from UK, but I am not posting the link, (you can use the search function if you want) because this is also most likely a fake....

I wish someone stopped these people...

How would someone have access to the manufacturing plant in the after hours to mass produce bootlegs? Seems impossible in countries that enforce anti-piracy laws. Maybe it's easy to 'rent' the plants in China or wherever.

Malaysia these days actually.

It's very likely that the plants themselves are owned by people with triad connections to boot.

Blu will not have these problems

blu-ray will have these same issues as sellers will distribute dvd-9s as blu-rays to un suspecting buyers. It happens still with dvds. I have this chick from Malaysia that found me on Amazon and keeps trying to sell me dvd knockoffs, 3.00 each for new releases. I have reported her to the anti-piracy website but thus far I continue to get her emails.
