To be fair, they have delivered some truly excellent 4K encodes, such as Blow Out.

This almost never happens, it was only with some of the Kurosawas (because BFI just licensed the Toho masters while Criterion did some of their own restoration work) and maybe THE WAGES OF FEAR. The rest are usually inferior to the UK/EU FiM 4K counterparts.

Wasn't that rumored to be with Criterion?

Please don’t let this turn into another endless “Criterion is God” vs “Criterion is Shit” “debate", we have enough of that in the Kurosawa threads

The booklet descriptions being the same, I hope they keep this exact blunt wording in their aspect ratio page:

Thought it was hilarious when I noticed this in their Dragon Inn booklet. I think they’re politer in the more recent releases though

Curious to note that along with being barebones by Eureka first time around, then getting just the one interview and the commentary this time, the Criterion blu-ray only had 2 non-trailer extras as well (same with their release L’Avventura actually). Nothing wrong with keeping it short and sweet rather than having a whole lineup of talking heads repeat the same point of course, just for such a highly reputed film it surprises me is all.
