That's why, OS9 is very, very poor; in the same way that Windows 98/2000 was better than OS9, OSX is better than XP/Vista by the same amount, less so for Vista as it is a cheap knock off of OSX.

Don't worry guys, next time I'm at my local mall, i'll stop in the apple store with an open mind and give them Mac's a try, but I seriously doubt that OSX can be as easy to use or operate (get into programs, etc) as windows is.

That's hard to believe, and depressing, to boot.

I thought one of Apple's strong suits always was user friendliness.

We've come to a sad world if a Microsoft OS is beating Apple on user friendliness.

agreed there jtk. after all the mouse for pc and windows was created on the basis of the ease of use of the OS.

it is easier IMO, but different (MUCH?) from what you are used to. but as i said, i will take my PC any day of the week because of the customization available and ability i need for some of the "fun stuff"

After Vista is released I won't support (with my dollars) another Microsoft product. I used to use Creative devices for WMA support. Switching to an Ipod. No Zune for me.

Ohh, you'll be pleasantly suprised then, because it is easier. I sure hope you do drop by the Apple store, as there is nothing more telling than actually playing with Mac OS X yourself.

For instance, my stepfather was recently (like two weeks ago) in the market for a new computer, so I told him about the Mac OS and Apple computers. He was, of course drawn to the initially lower advertised prices of the Dell, HP, and PC clone machines, but when I explained to him that basically that is how they draw the customers in, and that he'll have to later purchase 1) AntiVirus software, 2) Movie editing software 3) Picture editing software 4) A monitor 5) Third-party add-on software for commerical DVD playback (as Windows XP or EVEN VISTA--unless purchasing the highest end ultimate edition at like $400--has native commercial DVD playback, but the Mac does) and such, that he'd be saving money by just getting a Mac. So, I told him, look, just go to your Fry's store or local Apple store, and just take a look, and if you don't think you want the Mac, I can totally respect that. So, he went to take a look at initially just the Mac Mini for like $499/$699, and then he called me back and said, I see what you mean, and walked out of the store with a dual-core 2Ghz iMac in like 10 minutes. That's all it took, and he's been using PC's all his life. To top it all off, he is extremely happy with his purchase.

So, in general, I hope you mean it, that you will at the very least keep an open mind and experience it a bit. Like I said before, I don't think you'll walk away disappointed.

Yes INTEL chips finally on Mac's!!! Seriously though, I'm going to be in the market for a new laptop in the next couple of months and I know exactly what I want, a Sony Vaio. I'm going to look around and get as much experience and hands-on time with the Mac (especially their new ibooks )

I just seriously doubt that my mind will change when I use a the OS X on a Mac. No offense to Apple, but I just think Windows is the only way to go for daily computer work (Word, powerpoint, customization, etc) only because I have used them all my life.

I'm a full supporter of Apple, Sony, Bluray, which is why I'm on this forum and don't like Microsoft, but when it comes down to PC's and OS, Windows is the only thing for me.
