You probably won't like this suggestion, but if I were you I'd return that sub and go with something that is a proven performer for cheaper.

There are so many good mail order subs available, that you should almost never go to a brick and mortar to buy speakers, let alone a sub.

SVS, HSU, EPIK... you can't go wrong.

A lot on that list are more than the $1,500 or so that I shelled out for the Def-tech sub...... It's working alright.... I'm not amazed by it, but I'll keep it. It's a HUGE upgrade from the POS I had, and it was a decent price.

You have a ground loop in your wall socket in your equipment is humming. Got to Lowes/HD and get an orange plug to alleviate the problem. Only 98 cents.

Check to see what else is on the circuit. If you have motor loads or flourescent lighting on the same circuit that can cause the constant humming. The panel that feeds my HT equipment is a dedicated ckt fed by a 1:1 transformer thus isolating the ground and neutral from the rest of the house.

Post #7 people........ The issue is no longer there..... I went a different direction so to speak, to fix the "buzzing" sound..... I no longer have any humming, and am enjoying Classical music and Blu-Rays a LOT right now!

Cost a little more than the $0.98 orange plug, but I'm VERY happy with my results
