As I stated before, I have an all-in-one audio receiver rather than separates, because cost was a concern (it always is) and my speakers all purchased in the past 3-4 months weren't cheap, but speakers will hold their value fairly well, and Audio-Receivers are constantly getting better and cheaper, so I will pick up mono-tube amps when they hit a reasonable (to me) price where I feel I'm getting the value out of them relative to the price. |

I am not familiar with emotiva (other than reading reviews and such), but they are pretty strong from what I have read. I would say stick with a nice receiver with your speakers. If you want info on amps (emotiva included) There is a really good section at www.avsforum.com under "audio area" and then under "receiver, amps, and processors" |

I think you need to start with your speakers..
See if you can find any amp that will give you your desired effect with your existing... I don't think you can get there from here Because "clean" to my ears is different than to yours, you need to find a perfect combo for your ears. sorry no easy answer |

I've sold every A/V reciever from yamaha, denon, and marantz and they can't compare to the quality and power that I get from my Aragon seperates. Look at some of the amps from Anthem as well.

Never heard of the brand. I don't really follow high-end much though, too expensive. If you get it, you can use your existing reciever as a pre-amp if it has 7.1 analog outputs. I don't know how much the amp costs, but I don't think that the sound quality increase will be worth the price tag. One of the reasons to get separate power amps is to decrease noise and interference thereby creating cleaner power for each channel. I really don't think that stepping up to a 7.1 channel all-in-one amp will provide anything better than what you already have.

would i be better off just upgrading to a more powerful receiver than getting a separate amp?

"Better" as in acoustically better than a separate amp - no. A separate amp will be much better than a receiver. "Better" as in financially cheaper for you - yes. Separates will cost you more money. |
