Default Question on new receivers...

So I have been looking around for new receiver to replace my old H/K receiver that is about 7 years old....Anyways I have been looking at the Sony-DH800 and the Pioneer VSX-919 and the Onkyo TX-SR607....I will being running 7.1 or may a 7.2 set up...I'm just looking for inputs thought from owners of any models..

Between the three I'd either go with the Onkyo or the Pioneer. I'm not a fan of Sony receivers. They have a tendency to distort at higher volumes and they are generally lower in power than the specs state. If you like your current HK then you can also look at the AVR-254 and the AVR-354. I have the AVR-247 and I love the sound quality. Wattage may be a little low on paper, but believe me when I tell you that this receiver pushes my speakers harder than the Onkyo 605 that I moved into the bedroom. Harman Kardon makes an excellent receiver and they state true wattage unlike many other brands.

I didn't really even think about HK...LoL But after looking in too it more and I'm really like the AVR-354 is which some what in my budget then I saw the AVR 3550HD and holy Sh*t that is one clean receiver! Any owners of the AVR 3550HD?? I may consider the HK now becasue of the features on the receiver...but I still love input from others on the Sony, Onkyo, Pioneer, and HK.
Thanks!!

What's also nice about H/K is the power rating per channel is more than likely accurate as stated in the specs, unlike some of your lower and mid-range receivers.

I have the Sony 920 and I am quite impressed with it, now it does share a lot with the ES2400, power supply, amp, DACs, but doesn't have pre-outs or RS232 port. The only reason I want to upgrade my Sony is because of the lack of pre-outs.

I don't know much about the DH800, it looks like the same str-dg820, with an extra input or 2. Personally I did have the DG710 and was not happy with it. It did share the same power supply and amp that the 810/820 had. In fact the only difference I could come up with between the 720/820 was the HD audio decoding programming and an hdmi input. weight identical, power supply identical, amp supossedly identical.

Of the 3 your looking at get the ONKYO 607.

So you've made a decision...good for you. As a fellow HK owner I'm sure you will be quite happy with your choice.
