Not really. I was aware of the two formats, but never paid much attention to them. I bought a PS3 for games. Had to buy a new HD TV just to play Madden, as my old tube TV wasn't clear enough to see the plays. In the meantime I got a Blu-Ray movie (Fantasic 4: Silver Surfer), and realized how much better life could be. Hardly ever play games anymore.

At that time I was debating about buying both formats, but I didn't want to spend the extra money on another player. It was during my research I found you guys, and never looked back. The technicial differences were obvious, and that got me into Blu 100%. Should've found ya'll sooner!

Default Hell to the yeah!!!

I wanted Blu ray to win from the first announcements of it as a next gen HD format. I saw HD DVD first and told all my friends to wait for Blu ray. When Toshiba announced they were throwing in the towel I got text messages from at least five friends telling me I was right.

There's no real choice for me. I was observant on Day 1. Blu-ray had the specs, and studio support so I always leaned Blu, but it wasn't until Warner could provide identical image quality on HD-DVD and Blu-ray that I knew Blu was the way to go. For me, it was Oct. 2006.

Never wanted HD-DVD to be the format of choice though.

I did the same. Although Blu Ray was technologically superior, I knew that technological superiority does not always equate a 'win' for the consumers. So I held off, waiting to see what HD-DVD would do (never underestimate the cheaper price tags), saw where things were leaning, and then this past December before Christmas when the sales were at their peak I bought my player. 52 BD's and counting now.

My research never included the fan-boards on either side until a week before, because I knew this was a coke vs pepsi, apple vs microsoft, blonde vs redhead type debate. Of course, by the time I registered at HD Digest I had already made my decision for Blu, and wanted to hear compelling arguments against it.

Essentially, reading between the lines, the most 'compelling' reason presented to stick with HD-DVD was because "Sony is an evil mega-corporation that want's to control everything, and they suck." Essentially the same logic used when I was researching iPod vs Zune and a Pro-Apple site said essentially came up with the primary reason to avoid a Zune was because it's a MS product "and they are an evil mega-corporation that wants to control everything, and they suck."

So, here I am with a Samsung BD Player (1400 and I love it) and my (older) Zune. Exceptionally pleased with my choices, especially the BD player.

I was true Blu from day 1. Day 1 for me was December 06. I looked at the specs of both technologies and knew that Blu was the way to go. I am very happy the Blu-ray won the war because specs don't always mean you win. But in this case the best technology prevailed.

I stayed out of the HDM market until I was pretty sure Blu-ray was going to prevail.

I bought my BD-30 around the first week of November 07.

I was backing it, before I even heard of something called hd-spud.

Through with a different look then I do today. I had originally saw it
for bringing multiple sd sources onto one disc.

Like entire anime series on a single disc, this probably a very uninformed purpose but this was back when the specs were originally talked about and how some vague images of the discs, and images showing multiple movies on one disc were displayed to the public.

I was die-hard HD DVD until a couple of weeks ago.

I'm not bitter though. As long as I can enjoy movies in Hi Def it's all good. I can't wait to get a PS3 and join the blu

Blu-ray had this going for it - the larger capacity, that the Studios just loved, to add their unique content and extras. Those two, Capacity and Studios were a major factor on who would ultimately win. Couple that with Retailers finally getting behind 'one' format, struck the final blow. I recognized this early on and stayed with and defended Blu-ray for the entire battle. [Jim]

Ever since I got my PS3 I have never wanted anything but Blu-Ray. I knew all along it would win, but I will admit that the whole Paramount situation scared me for awhile.
