I recently got the Starship Troopers blu-ray (UK import) and just finished watching it. The PQ is really good although some scenes here and there are a little soft. But, a lot of the scenes are breathtaking/spectacular! Wow, just wow!

As mentioned, it's a VC-1 encode and the bitrates in some scenes jump above 40 and bitrates in the mid-to-upper 30s are common (especially in the demo quality scenes). Anyway, I don't know if it's possible or not but if Sony can improve some of the areas where it's a little soft, this could end up being one of the best hi-def PQ releases yet (imo, of course). Looking forward to seeing what they can do with it.

It has PCM so no worries there.

The lossy codec used is Dolby Digital 5.1.

The second one was a straight to dvd release, it was a budget title if you know what I mean...

Alot of the special effects appeared to be toned down, battles were smaller scale, and its almost a complete different genera then the first one.

Company of Wolves would be cool, but its a pretty old movie. How much hi-def value, I don't know. Starship Troopers for me has been hard not to order import. One of those movies you can just watch over and over. It aint the greatest but it is what it is. If there's a chance they'll do a better release here in the states then I'll wait.

I loved starship troopers It's one of my favorite sci/fi movies. Sony did a shit job of selling this movie in theatres so it only did so so.It was a big hit on dvd so they made a direct to video sequel(totally sucked) and I think killed the franchise potential. They are now trying to kinda restart it by releasing another direct to video dvd. Sony and the people bent on the distruction of starship troopers are doing a pretty go job. Where are you paul verhoeven we need you I am so sorry to see people pissing on your work.
