i picked taxi driver, but rocky and the deer hunter(which is'nt even on the list) are also great flicks.

im in my early 20's, but really enjoy watching classic movies.

Grease would've been another good one along with Alien. The Longest Yard was a great movie too!

I voted The Exorcist but it was a tough choice. I wanted to vote for these as well: Close Encounters, Jaws, Rocky, Saturday Night Fever and Star Wars.

for worthwhile info, Star Wars should have been left off too. The obsession with that movie goes beyond understanding (atleast by me).

Jaws, Alien, French Connection, Rocky

Star Wars. No Pre-Y2K movie can top Episodes IV V and VI. They are awesome.

I don't agree, but I'm curious to see what "post-Y2K" film(s) you consider to be superior to your beloved Star Wars Trilogy.

Incidentally, I haven't even voted in my own poll.

Too many favorites in there, though if a gun was held to my head I might choose Taxi Driver.

I see a hole left by the missing comedies.

Blazing Saddles
Young Frankenstein
What's up Doc (great chase scene)

Also the fringe Films

Catch 22
The Seven Ups
Freebie and the Bean
Slaughterhouse-5

I definitely should have included Blazing Saddles. Didn't think of it until afterward.

This thread is ooooooold, but I had to chime in.

Has to be Taxi Driver for me. It's my favourite film, in fact.

Gotta go with Star Wars and Jaws being a close second. If the poll didn't specify "Non-Godfather Film" then my vote would be for Star Wars and Jaws being a close second.

I am pretty sure if you had Godfather on the poll Star Wars still would have won.

Without a doubt Star Wars. Alien, MASH, Barry Lyndon, I could go on and on with many great 70's movies.
