I know it's played out to say, but I'm all over John Williams' Star Wars scores - for all the movies. Nothing quite like listening to "Duel of the Fates" before a big design presentation or "Battle of the Heroes" when you're trying to outmaneuver someone on the highway.

Me too, I am also a big Hans Zimmer fan. The Gladiator score was amazing. Now We Are Free resonates...

I don't know if you have XM radio, but there is a great station called Cinemagic (Channel 27). It plays film scores from all kinds of films and sometimes they have the director or person who scored the film on. I've heard people from the dude who did Happy Feet to the guy who directed The Bank Job to Spike Lee's new war film. This is only sometimes, but they interview the director and then it cuts to a scene in the movie that flows into the music. Usually though it's just a scene that flows into the score. A really cool station. So you could get some ideas from it.

+1 John Williams score for the Star Wars saga is the best score ever written for a movie series. Without Williams Star Wars wouldn't have acheived the greatness it acheived.

I used to listen to Graham Revell's score for The Crow almost every day. Of course John Williams. I also like Randy Edelman's score for Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story. A lot of trailers use some of the stuff off of that score.

Williams, Goldsmith, Morricone, Hermann, and Elfman are some of my favourite composers.

Also like some Horner, Kamen, Bernstein, Shore (LOTR!), Zimmer, and going back further, Erich Wolfgang Korngold.

I'm also impressed by Michael Giacchino's scores for The Incredibles and Ratatouille.

I'm quite the profound fan of film scores. To me, it's the modern-day opera, really. (Just think about it )

Some of my favorites are John Powell, Hans Zimmer, John Williams, Elmer Bernstein (RIP), David Arnold, Howard Shore.

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly (Ennio Morricone)
Vertigo (Bernard Herrmann)

Also usually overlooked among his other works, John Williams' score for JFK was dead-on perfect.

The score for "Requiem For A Dream" by Clint Mansell is probably the best I've ever heard IMO. The fact that I've heard it used in tons of other trailers kinda grinds my gears though. I listen to it on my PS3 as background music.

P.S. the Cronos Quartet are gods.

I probably like John Williams score the best for Star Wars. But, I also liked a lot of Jerry Goldsmith's scores particularly for Star Trek the Motion Picture.

Mostly John William's work on all Star Wars films, pretty hard to beat...

Close second would have to be Howard Shore on Lord Of The Rings
