Cataloguing Blu-ray - Blu-ray Forum

Hi
Has anyone come accross any bluray cataloguing software. Wanna be able to catalog my blu rays just like the dvds. Scan the barcode and it uploads the title.

Question...what would be the point of doing this? Just curious...or maybe I"m not understanding what this does...

I use DVD Profiler for my DVDs. I'd imagine it would work for Blu Rays as well.

I mean...is this some sort of software to organize your collection? Like instead of let's say sorting them alphabetically, just number them and makes it easier to find? (if you have a huge collection of DVDs Blu-Rays)?

I made a great Access 2007 database for this, but you have to enter everything manually. The best part is the report that is nothing more than thumbnails of the covers. My wife and I use that to flip through and determine which movie we want to watch. But it doesn't make it easier to find them on the shelf. It just makes it easier to sit on the couch and glance through your collection.

Organizes them (not sure if it's by # per se), but looks pretty standard. Put in the UPC off the back and it'll automatically catalogue it for you. Even has a place to keep track of ones you've loaned out (if you're foolish enough to do so

)

Might have to check this one out. I have no idea what I have anymore.

I and a lot of other people on this forum use Invelos DVD Profiler. You can enter the UPC and it'll catalog it automatically with all the technical specs. You can track what you own, what you've ordered, what you want and what you've loaned. This is useful, for example, to ensure you don't accidentally buy a duplicate title during the 17 weeks it takes to fulfill the holiday Blu-ray rebate offer.

A couple of features I like:

You can post your collection to the web. I use this so that when I have a movie party my friends can look at the list beforehand and decide what they want to watch. Click the link in my sig to see what it looks like.
You can filter your list by almost any criterion you want. One that I use a lot is run time, e.g., what can I watch if I have only two hours to kill?

(I also tried DVD Spot but found the interface to be a little clunky.)
