The right version?

Which one is that?

I would not be happy if it wasn't the US release. I will reiterate, but I really liked the black and white stuff. I didn't need to see alll of the gore. It was artistic and unique. In my useless opinion, the US version is the right one.

These first releases from Disney will be the theatrical versions.

If you want uncut, wait next year for The Whole Bloody Affair.

To be honest, I just recently found out that the US theatrical version of Kill Bill Vol. 1 had the House of Blue Leaves black and white scene because Tarantino wanted to get a lower MPAA rating, but in my opinion I really like it that way. It adds a certain quality to the film. I guess I don't really care if I get to see all that gore in color, because then it would be just another gory scene like in any other movie. The fact that it was changed to black and white made it different.

I'll probably end up waiting for "The Whole Bloody Affair," although the temptation will be high for these. Hopefully this and Grindhouse in its entirety will make it out soon.

Does anyone know of a Japanese release? I would assume any release in Japan would be, what I like to call, "The Real Version". Maybe it's coming out at the same time in Japan? What's the phone number for Japan? Someone should give them a ring.

There has been no news of a Japanese Blu release.

Yep the uncut version is far better. Its not just the change to black and white its also about two dozen additional shots that also had to be removed to appease the censors.

The original/uncut is the directors original vision. The USA theatrical version is politically correct compromise.

Universal owns the home video distributions rights for Kill Bill in Japan and no official announcements have been made yet.

Default Kill Bill...the Complete Saga!!!

considering the space capacity on Blu-Ray discs...

WHEN ARE WE FINALLY GOING TO GET THE "WHOLE BLOODY AFFAIR" VERSION OF KILL BILL?

i love BOTH films and...call me lazy but...i don't want to be bothered with getting up...walking over...taking the first disc out...putting the second disc in...sitting back down...wait for the menu...pressing PLAY...tedious!!!

so what if it'll run almost 4 - 4 1/2 hours TOTAL...

we won't mind...

really...

we won't...

it will be a nice like appetizer for when they get around to putting all 3 LOTR films on ONE disc...

Yes, while the disc capacity has gotten bigger so has the amount of space video and audio take up. Unless you want DVD quality video/audio, you aren't going to see all 3 LOTR on one disk.

Unless of course you are being sarcastic and in that case I apologize.

no, i wasn't being sarcastic...

maybe (at this point) it's more wishful thinking than a reality but, i'd like to see the LOTR trilogy on one disc...someday...

i'm pretty secure with my masculinity so, i have no shame in saying, when that day does come...

i'll be crying tears of joy like a high school girl just named prom queen...

As much as I want these on blu....I'll wait for THBA... why not see it the way Tarantino wanted it seen? Even though the b&w scene is technically an "attention getter" but it was a great idea because not only did it grab our attention, it also gave bill the r-rating.

I'll rent the copies and avoid the double dip.

Give me the black and white scenes. I want that. The additional shots, meh, I have yet to see them. I just really like what Tarantino did with those color to black and white sequences.

One of the posters here mentioned that QT has since become disenchanted with releasing the two films as one, but whether that's true or not, I'm not sure. The upcoming bare bones Blu-Rays are incredibly disappointing, and seem to be an indication that it's less and less likely, not only that we'll get The Whole Bloody Affair, but also that we'll get some decent extras.

I am sure Disney and the Weinstein company probably came to a release agreement for Kill Bill since Disney owns them as Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 and the Weinstein Company owns the Whole Bloody Affair ... so to speak... I would guess they said let us release the theatrical cuts and you guys release your set later on... I also have read that QT was having another anime section completed for the eventual release also.

I just would love to see some really good behind the scenes footage and interviews of the making of the film.. not just the filler they put on the cable networks but really good documentaries.
