Yeah, there's no reason why they can't ship them on Friday so we can get them Monday/Tuesday.

If you want it pre release date, use that other vendor!

I only have the SD DVD and I'm sure the BD will blow it away for BOTH PQ and AQ. I'll watch it tonight if I get a chance but I Am Legend is what I'm spending my time on lately!

What is so hard about including the extended versions of the film on BluRay? If we are paying top dollar for these discs we should get the very best.

I watched it last night, and it has excellent PQ and AQ. I don't think anyone will be disappointed.

I didn't look at any of the extras except the scavenger hunt game. It has a list of things at the bottom of the screen and you have to find them in the movie. There is a cross hair on the screen that you move with the arrow buttons on the remote. Since I didn't feel like watching the the movie 2 times on a row, I only played with it for a few minutes.

FYI, I got my copy early from deepdiscount.com.

I have so far spent more than $200 for ID4 (Cinema, Laser Disc, VHS, DVD, Blu-ray) and FOX has royally screwed us by not giving us the actual film extras and the extended CUT on pristine Blu-ray.

Because selling home video is the same as any other business. They can make more money selling you on multiple versions than by paying to put every last special feature on the disc.

^^^^^^^

In the morning of release day, I check Best Buy online and put in my zip code for availability. It lets you know which stores have that title.

And they are clickable.

If you guys think ID4 is good, wait until you see I, Robot. I'm watching it now for the review, and this thing is absolutely fantastic. Check out the scene where the robot wrecks the home.

I'll probably pick up the Blu-ray of Independence Day regardless of the extras it lacks. The DTS-HD MA track is a bonus, even if you can only play the 1509kb/s lossy core. It would at least trump the rare & valuable DTS Laserdisc.

Also consider this: if Fox threw in a bunch of extras it would probably be nearly all standard definition stuff copied from the 2-disc Five Star Collection DVD. I already have a copy of that. Don't need it twice.

I'm more appreciative of extras on Blu-ray when the extras are new the video material is in some sort of high definition format. 1080p is preferred, but 1080i or 720p is better than nothing.

The most nagging thing missing is really the Special Edition cut of the movie. They could have used seamless branching to get that done. However, some of those extra scenes in the SE cut were pretty lame and deserved to end up "on the cutting room floor."

I wonder if it is the same transfer as the US and Australian release.

I love the movie; I have to agree with most of what the "official" blu-ray.com review had to say about it.

Unfortunately, I'm not going to watch the Blu-Ray until my home theater remodel is done, where I can do it some justice.

But I do want to mention what I think is a little gem in the movie, and that's the role of Brent Spiner, of STNG fame as Data. His character here is such a hoot that it almost makes that bit my favorite part of the whole movie.

PQ and AQ is nice, not top tier but great for its age but I will confess that I am a bit put off by the lack of extras especially after the delay.
You can not tell me that there are no behind the scenes featurettes or deleted scenes or whatever floating around out there.
I will be the bad guy here and say that honestly I wish that I has waited until a week or two from now when this is available for 19.99 easily online.
