Exclamation Independence Day - Reviews and Reaction Thread

The HDD review is perfect. Bravo Bracke.

I have the Jap edition. Forget these interactive games.

So how long will it take for us to realize that Fox has smartly screwed us by not throwing the film extras.

I have so far spent more than $200 for ID4 (Cinema, Laser Disc, VHS, DVD, Blu-ray) and FOX has royally screwed us by not giving us the actual film extras and the extended CUT on pristine Blu-ray.

Shame on you FOX. We now know that the stateside delay was due to playback issues and NOT for any additional content.

I should be getting my copy either today or Monday. IMO, it should've been here yesterday but I'm still patient.

But do you think the picture was sh!tty on just that one part and ok later on?
I've bought a few movies that were a disappointment, and this one is expensive.

He said the picture was "the shit", not "shitty" so i'm assuming he's saying it was awesome, not bad

Heh. Reminds me of Eddie Izzard explaining how "bollocks" is bad, but if something is "the dog's bollocks" it's awesome.

I can't wait for ID4. Even if it ends up being a double-dip down the road, it'll be awesome to re-live the theatrical version in HD.

Welcome to Earf!

It sucks that Amazon has been shipping pre-orders on Monday lately. With two day shipping I get it the day after release.

I got mine (UK import, I'm French) beginning of January.
I must say I'm not really impressed by the PQ, but it comes from the Director's choice of having many shotes of main characters in clear shot and other characters blurry ; most of the action scenes look very good, but some "calm" scenes are very beautiful (with nice depth) others are quite flat. The sound is 5x better than DVD (and I have a crappy receiver that doesn't PCM or DTS).

I watched both ID4 and I'Robot on blu friday. ID4 I give 4.25 PQ and 4.75 AQ. very clean transfer, especially since the master had alot of dirt to begin with. sharp and some 3d pop here and there. the sound was incredible. if you have a good setup the beginning will rock your living room as good as any soundtrack. I'Robot is reference material. 5 star PQ/AQ. this disc is as good as any top tier 0 transfer you will see. jaw-dropping, saliva running good. I'Robot should be on every demo disc in every electronics store around. Fox really is great at authoring and doing encodes on most of their releases. They sure used the bandwidth and bitrate of 50GB AVC codecs to the limit on these releases. I will add that I was listening to the DTS-MA track on both. So if your equipment can decode it, well then more power to you.

So, I can still cancel....

Should I do ID4 or I'Robot? It has to be one or the other, seeing as how I have ordered seven movies in the past week.

I haven't seen either JasonR, but I have no doubt I Robot is going to be the better looking out of the two movies. I'm excited about ID4 but if I could only get my hands on one this Tuesday it would be I Robot.
