Looked amazing in the theater. All those expensive sets and SFX should look great in Blu.

Listed on Best buy website for pre order and I HOPE my local best buy will have a copy there for me pick up on april 8, im there 9:55 am!

I saw it in the theaters when it came out back in the early 90's. It's a great movie and was very happy to hear it was coming to BD.

The Adventures of Baron Munchausen is crazy. In a good way.
There's so much going on and well... it's what you'd expect from Gilliam.

I think I saw a trailer for this on one of the Monty Python DVD's a long time back so I blind-bought it on DVD and I loved it.

A couple of my favorite moments (I have others, but don't want to give the best ones away):

Baron Munchausen: The Sultan is going to cut off my head.
Adolphus: And?
Baron Munchausen: "And?"!?

Baron Munchausen: I'm Baron Munchausen!
Berthold: That sounds nasty. Is it contagious?

Did see this film when it was released many years ago.

But cannot say I will run like mad be first to have this.

But maybe someday I will get it but not on my priority list.

This is a highly visual film (as all Gilliam films are). I think it would be great demo material even if it's an old film.

Was thinking about not getting it, but have been reconsidering lately. I'd have to see it first (I have a DVD somewhere, although I'm sure it's PQ sux). Most of the Monty Python films I've been underwhelmed by in the end. (Holy Grail is a notable exception.)

I think it was the comparison here to Brazil level of goodness that has persuaded me to give this a reconsideration, by the way:

All the reviews on the net -- DVD File's being the best, as usual -- are making me very comfortable about this preorder. Paidgeek & Co. always deliver.

I've loved this film ever since I first saw it in the late Eighties, warts and all. It will be slightly weird for today's audiences to see all the bluescreen artifacts that were the norm in the days of optical effects, but that's how it should look. And the sheer visual force of the film is more than ably matched by Gilliam's focus on the issue at the heart of the story -- the conflict between the life-affirming creativity and the dull rationality.

You have to have a place in your heart for the former to even begin to appreciate this film. It's not the one for cynics (unlike, say, Brazil), but it doesn't mean it's schmaltzy or that it embarrassingly wears its heart on its sleeve. Quite the contrary.

Also, I can't help but think that Disney's POTC series liberally borrowed some of Gilliam's approach here two decades later, only making sure that it clicked commercially. The Baron and Captain Jack are more similar than you might think...
