New Members - by Month - Blu-ray Forum

Hi All,
I've noticed really, really enhanced activity with respect to new members registering ever since the blockbuster deal was announced. Almost every thread has somebody (me included) welcoming a new member...

Seeking y'alls opinion on having a sticky thread that lists members by month/date of registration...

I agree. Join date should be rank. Should we get Josh - or some of the mods to help us? I'll be glad to compile - and sort by month/date of joining.

I'll help. But I don't think the rank should have anything to do with join date. I am "kinda" new here.

I don't get it my fellow "Join Date: Jan 2007", why is something like this needed? We have sooooo many stickys I think that another one is a bad idea. That's my main objection.

A few reasons:

1. Track user registration - by month. We are grOWING - and exponentially. Therefore, this is a feel good.

2. User registration and interest in blu-ray is a direct index of significant announcements and advancement... As examples, PS3 introduction in Nov. 2006 - how many more registrants did that cause? What were the effects of v1.80, of blockbuster?

3. Future projection using trends of user registration. What can we - people that are already into blu-ray heads-over-heels - do to welcome the huge anticipated influx of new HDTV adopters? What articles should we put out so that their research into the advantages of blu-ray becomes easier?

I'm sure there are more...
Aaron - our MySpace coordinator - could use some of that info as well...

That's where I'm coming from!

How do we get to the list of members?

Rankings: function of join date - number of posts - date of last post - whether mods have "banned".

You can easily see the member list: https://forum.blu-ray.com/memberlist.php

And you can sort it by post count, or do an advanced member search by join date. That's how I made that list.

Thank you... that's pretty much what I had in mind...
After I finish what I've gotta finish on Monday... I'll try my hand at pasting in 2 graphs... one a bar count of members by month - and the other a line graph of cumulative count.

Aaron, an idea for seniority graph: the blu-ray logo getting more complete as seniority (by date joined) grows...

Didn't quite catch the significance of us being "little squirts". I guess my sense of humor must be a little off..

We will not make a user rank/title system that's based on join date alone, since that system would be static which isn't very fun. In the end it will be some sort of weighted rank/level (what a bunch of nerds we are

) based on join date, posts, activity on site (comments, reviews etc) and the quality of the posts.
