I don't own a PS1 or PS2 console or games but I've read on here that some of the first gen and second gen of PS2 games have compatibility problems with subsequent gens. So it's not like the PS3 is going to achieve 100% compatibility on PS2 games EVER, unless they figured out a way to do software emulation.

I've found Sony to be very good at repairing their products. I had a launch PS2 (yes PS*2*) that I sent to them a couple years ago with it not reading my games anymore, they didn't charge me to repair it and sent the original back to me. I know it was wildy out of warranty but they still did it free of charge.

That sux they jacked the game! Also i never heard bout Sony "promising" BC. IMO it's better to not accept promises. To me it just seems more like a trap and the person making one most likely is just wanting to screw you over.
