Isn't that how walmart works? they come into a small city, eliminate the competition with low prices, then jack them up?

And it's not customer service that's the reason people hate walmart, it's THEIR ethics, so don't give me any of this "Unethical" BS. They should pay their employees better, and maybe not exploit them. Then I'll give them some respect

pretty close to it. As much as I like low prices, from a business point of view Walmart is pure evil.

now i live in 2 different places about equally. One is a big city, the other is a small town (has a walmart though, only place most college kids shop here). I will tell you that the prices in the city are lower for sure. However, I will go far from calling them evil.

They do quite a bit of good, even though they have done some questionable things. So I can't call them evil.

No other store would hire somebody just to say hello, wal-mart hires the elderly and disabled to do that and gives them meaning to their lives and a paycheck.

Wal-mart will hire the mentally handicapped, not many other places do that.

Wal-mart offers some of the lowest prices. There is a reason why college kids here go there, the other stores that sell similar stuff cost more money, gives me more dough to buy blu if I go to Wally World.

They pay a good base wage. You don't see them hiring for min. wage.

They sponser many charitable things.

Don't get me wrong, they have done some very questionable things, but I can think of many other corporations that do to. For some reason people like to come down hard on Walmart.

oh, I agree, I don't think there is a company out there that is all halos and angel wings. My only thing against WM was that we did a senior study on them in Business class during my senior year of college. The things we uncovered about them were pretty shocking. I was in Oregon at the time and to this day the city of portland has a citywide ban against a walmart coming under any area in their jurisdiction. They made a public statement siting the increased crime rates that happened around the area every time a Walmart was introduced.

but thats not wal-marts intention or desire, that just the effect of having the easiest place to steal from come to your city

Ive never stolen anything from WM cause I do have morals, but I know I could steal a lot from them if I wanted to

From my experinece WM seems to have a positive effect in wealthier neighborhoods and a negative effect in less fortunate places.

Would you like to share what you uncovered?

Anyway, how you can say Walmart isnt a great company, then I dont know what is. Yeah it closes down these smaller companies, but would you rather go to 10 stores to get what you need, or just make 1 stop? And besides that, they charge alot cheaper for not just movies, but everything else.

I have no idea if mine in salinas ca. has good customer service, I called them looking for a powerwheels ride on toy for my son, the first 4 people on the phone did not speak english!!, the last person had such a bad accent, that I just hung up after waiting 8 mins in the phone. I will never do business there again.
