Did you ever buy the HD-DVD add-on for the 360? Just curious.

The reason people suggest the PS3 is because right now it is the most feature rich blu-ray player on the market (especially this month when it gets Profile 2.0) outside of DTS-MA (and some people don't like the remote).

if you are dead set on a standalone, you should wait till the next set come out later on this year because then the standalones will catch up (and possibly pass) the features of the PS3 for Blu-Ray.

I would suggest the Panasonic BD-30, or if you can wait the Panasonic BD-50 (profile 2.0 player).

PS3 boots quicker than loading on a standalone player right?

You put the disc in and if your system is set to "auto boot BD" it goes straight to the movie.

I know, your not listening.

Wow, sound like it's a good thing I still use the BDP-1000. Outside of some of the early Fox disc, and the Pirates films, I've had no problems.

Everything that didn't work was fixed by firmware.

I just updated my player last week, and had no problems playing Ice Age or I Robot.

This side of 2009, I don't think its worthwhile getting a standalone. I might get one eventually, but i'll wait until the storm has gone completely. Come Easter 2009, i'll get whatever the best budget player is. If thats an even better PS3, i'll get that.

OK I did my updates and actually I still had my BD-P1200 that I had from when I replaced to my 1400. I updated the 1200 and can play I Robot but still can't play Hitman.

It's weird because it doesnt say anything or lock up on either on Hitman. when I insert the disc the main menu comes up for the player. It should load the movie but all it does is bring up the menu and on the 1200 it says it wont play the disc and ejects it.

I called Samsung but they couldn't confirm troubles with those discs so I'm going to assume that my Hitman is bad.

I also actually went to Best Buy to consider getting the PS3 for the time being that I would have to send my player in but IT WONT WORK. Not only would I have to buy a remote and component cables ( yes I still use component but theres a reason for that) My house video switcher only accepts component and digital coaxial for audio. Which as you PS3 owners know it has a Fiber optics audio out not digital coax. I would have to buy a converter box which I believe is $50.

PS3 is officially out. At least for me. So I guess I'm gonna contact Amazon and get a new disc.

It seems like you really don't want a PS3 because you categorize it as a gaming system. Even though its the #1 selling Blu-ray system out there. Don't say it's not because if you ask most of us including me, we bought it to plat the movies first. At the time it was $599 while the other players were $999. Even though its cheap and a gaming system doesn't mean it lacks as a BR Player. To tell you the truth, all these movies you and others out there can't play on there systems will play on the PS3 no problem.

You don't have to pay $14 to $20 bucks for a remote. Use the controller. Yes I know it's a gaming controller but so what. Don't be embarrased that you're using a gaming controller for a remote.

Default I, Robot 3D playback issues

I have a Pioneer BDP-430 3D compatible Blu-ray player with the latest software update. Every time I attempt to play I, Robot on the player, the movie shuts down as soon as the 20th Century Fox intro starts playing. All other Blu-Ray movies I have play fine. Anyone else having this issue with the Pioneer player?
