If you are referring to the location, it was attacked by the Japanese on December 7, 1941. If you are talking about the Blu-ray disc, my copy seems to be fine.

Wouldn't that be if you are referring to the time? The location would be on the island of Oahu.

My copy plays fine too, but Caligula reported some problems with his - blacking out of the screen or something.

I am having a problem playing Pearl Harbor on my PS3. I pop in the disc and get a "Your movie is about to begin" screen. What is this? Never seen it before and I cannot get passed it.

No clue. Take it out and watch Tora! Tora! Tora! instead.

Does the screen say anything about using the pop-up menu to access special features and other stuff during the movie? Those screens were very common on early Disney BDs (I have one on my Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back blu).

Not sure how to fix your problem, you should try returning the disc and get a new one.

If the problem continues, I would check with Sony for player issues.

Though, to be honest, I wouldn't go through all this trouble just to play Pearl Harbor.

Eh, it's not much better (Though at least it doesn't have an idiotic love triangle). I'm still waiting on a true, definitive Pearl Harbor movie.

It is extremely historically accurate. When I was getting my B.A. in history my WWII professor (chair of the department and still is) used most of the DVD to show what happened before, during, and after Pearl Harbor. It has some Hollywood in it, but it's rather limited.

I didn't mean a definitive historically accurate Pearl Harbor movie, I meant a definitive GREAT Pearl Harbor movie. You are correct that Tora Tora Tora is very historically accurate, but I really couldn't get behind it (As a film itself, it's somewhat dull and doesn't completely impress me). I think a modern, realistic update that doesn't try to appeal to the Titanic audience with an idiotic love story and actually has likeable characters that express the true impact of the events of Pearl Harbor would be great. That way, you can really see how Pearl Harbor impacted people living during that time period (Unlike the Happily Ever After ending of the 2003 film).

As of now, you're correct that Tora Tora Tora is the best Pearl Harbor film currently available, but I still can't bring myself to say that it's a great movie.

See post https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...7&postcount=25

Also see post 27, same thread. I had the same problem, contacted Buena Vista. I returned the defective disk in the prepaid mailer they sent me and they sent a replacement at no charge. Pretty nice of them, since it was the first BD I purchased back in 2006 and played many times.

If Jeff Shaara finally gets around to writing about WWII in the Pacific and they turn it into a movie, that will be the one to see.
