Look at Spawn, hes not a port and well done! the best looking character so far.

They are creating the models, just take a look at the links i posted, damn is that so hard?

Gears of War uses the same Unreal engine as UT3. Wouldnt' be surprised at all if those are an easy port over.

True but i believe that epic said somewhere that ut3 was using an updated version of unreal engine which is why it looks a "little" better than gears and gears 2 is running the same version as ut3 but better optimized hence the hundred or so characters on screen. with little to no lag. Also the halo mod is from complete scratch it's the master chief from 3 the modder "said" it was from scratch anyway, as is the spawn one and the berserker..

Heck, they would still need to somehow map the arm to... the arm. Leg to the leg, etc.
What about the shooting animations? In gears, most of the shooting was done behind a wall... I highly dought that when playing UTIII with the Gears characters that he shoots by running around in a ducking position with his arm up firing a gun over an invisible wall like he would in GoW. How would the character developer possibly take the EXACT animation built for UTIII? Does he re-model it? Maybe the Unreal Developer thing automatically does it... i dont know, i havent tried it yet.
Again though, Even if it does- The animation would be shoppy. Legs would bend into each other, the neck would be in his torso, etc. Not to mention, all legs, arms, heads, etc, would have to be the exact same size for everyone.
What would stop me from taking the animation out of that 2D stick figure fighting downloadable game on XBL and porting a stick figure to UTIII? Unless i can really do that, in which- now i want to.

Still, this seems completely impossible to do.

Unless they are straight from the PC... but that still doesnt explain the Spawn characters and the Snake character (being released).

If the program that comes with UTIII for the PC is good enough to do what you seem to say it does, then it would be WELL worth a couple hundred dollars alone. I dont think they'd bundle it with a 60 dollar game.

I assumed these were the work of extreme Halo/Gears of War fans. I still think they are...

Do explain.

Happens all the time there are programs that can look into extract and make copies of texture files etc..

I will use a project I did once as a example.

There was a video that I really wanted on a ps2 disc, of a mech game, the cgi was beautiful.. I ran a tool that extracted the video file as a mpeg2 and wave file (wave for the audio) then you use another tool to bring the two files back together and resync...

It was a process that took 3 or or so sets of programs to make these extractions but I got it, and I was happy, I could show the cgi to my friends.

Now ill use a pc experiment, there are tools on the pc that let you look into the texture files and copy out the texture files, which is sometimes how some companies get into trouble they leave some "naughty" texture files sometimes including full nudity into there game texture files these textures are sometimes not even used or ever meant to be seen by the gamer.

This one tool could extract and inject a new texture file directly into a *pc game* things like this have been used in the past, I do not have the names of the programs but you will find they exist.

Now with ps3 games that would be even more difficult not many people own a blu-ray drive in which to look into the file system of the disc.
