Hitting a round ball with a round bat square in a fraction of a second is still the hardest feat in sports.

Steroids do not increase hand eye coordination.

It has not affected my love for baseball, little league to major league.

Jose Canseco was talking about this on the Opie & Anthony show yesterday.

He had also mentioned he felt baseball wouldn't have "come back" the way it did during the "Home Run Chase" between Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa. That chase brought me back, that's for sure.

But you know, I still don't agree with guys doing it....

Barry Bonds lost speed and his ability to field, he used to be a gold golve and would be a 30-30 guy and he gave that up for pure power...

that's his decision, I guess...I think juicing up has impaired his ability to play and he was more useful to his team when he wasn't juiced up..
Jose Canseco became the first player to hit 40 home runs and steal 40 bases in a season. Steroids didn't slow him down. Bonds was into his thirties when he started juicing, so naturally he would start slowing down because of his age.

Canseco was a power hitter before he started juicing...

i wouldnt say its the media. i think its the players. they are all self centered and only care about them selves. they dont need the money they get and have no reason to ask for more. if anything i think media is good because it counteracts their greedyness

Here's the first two lines from Canseco's book Juiced:

"I was really scared the first time I used steroids. It all started for me late in 1984 when I was twenty years old."

His first appearance in the majors was in 1985. Thus, he was juicing before he became a power hitter.

Thats because of the millions upon millions of dollars paid out by the top spending teams in the form of a luxury tax that owners like the one for the Pirates who stick that luxury check in their greedy pockets! Not to mention the pirates having about 15,000 empty seats per game, you Pirate fans can blame part of yourselves for your team spending a avg of 40 million less then most teams. What good would a cap even do when they would still be 60 million under it?

Since beginning using steroids, from November 1984 to February 1985 Canseco put on an extra 25 pounds of muscle. His breakout season in the majors was yet another year after, in 1986.

If you still think that's not "juicing"...

(I'm not a Canseco expert in any way, but I do own his book, have read it through, and certainly can skim the early chapters for these tid-bits of information)

Their payroll has increased the past two years, but before that, it was down around $20m for a few seasons.

The revenue generated from the naming rights of the stadium, along with the licensing for the concessions, exceeded $20m. Before a single ticket was sold for the season, the payroll was covered for the whole year.

I never said that's not juicing...he just wasn't full tilt boogie...

I was saying he wasn't using it nearly as frequently for the 1st 4 years...and then he got out of hand...
