Well put. That seems to be exactly what it is.

BD: I raise you two new players, and a slew of top-notch titles, many on BD50, that will make your head spin.

HD DVD: Oh yeah?! Well, I see your players by this IOU for Chinese and Meridian. And I raise you TL51 sometime next year.

BD: Boy, do you think I was born yesterday?

Recently I heard that HDi requires WinCE to work.

To my mind, the fact that WinCE spells wince is not a coincidence

Anyways, like most M$ crap, WinCE is a resource hog for embedded systems like a set top box and only supported on certain uP platforms... so SoC == SoL

A couple of on topic comments.

Sony was showing (under really high security!) 8 mins from Spiderman 3 at CES. Unlike other Sony 'shows', this one had no Sony BS at all - just the movie clip shown on their 4k projector. Nice. It was fun too - looks like another winning film for Sam Raimi, Sony and eventually BD

Also at the BDA booth on the last day they were giving out Pirate flags noting Pirates 1 and 2 coming soon - only to Blu-ray Disc.

If I get around to it I will post a picture of one.

Otherwise enjoy the pix posted and feel free to comment on what is said here or ask questions...

Yes. Probably true not fair. It was the scene where 'Green Goblin II' attacks Peter.

I went to the Spiderman3 show at second show on day 1. My friend who watched 1st show on that day said that after the Spiderman clip, Sony intended to show their products Ad film (looked crap IMHO), but there were SO MANY people who didn't want to be bothered by that film (many escaped from the theater after the Spiderman show), Sony seemed to give up showing its ad film after 2nd show.

I have the flag from CES advertising Pirates! yay! I'm going to hang it in my room like a schoolgirl and their boy band posters.

I am suprised that no one mentioned this, but CES there was hardly any HD-DVD products or news. Toshiba and the HD-DVD consortium were the only real vendors that were talking about HD-DVD. LG was displaying their dual player, but besides that no one really much else was talking about HD-DVD. On the other hand Blu-Ray seemed to be touted by every other vendor. Everywhere I looked Blu-Ray signs were shown and Blu-Ray players were connected to TVs.

My brother in law came with me to CES and his belief before the show was that since Microsoft was coming into the HD-DVD camp that, that is what we were going to see at the show. I told him lets keep a tally. By the end of the show he couldn't concieve how HD-DVD was going to go anywhere this year. I know that Blu-Ray is not without it's problems, but after the show I don't see how HD-DVD is going to come close to unseating Blu-Ray. I predict by Q4 of 2007 HD-DVD will be digging a grave. I don't think it will disappear at that moment, but I think most every industry insider will concur that it is gone at that point.

It is true that HD DVD had a poor turnout - aside from Toshiba, the truck and the LG dual unit, the only place I saw them was at disc makers Maxell and Verbatim.

But since this is the BD forum, I didn't bother to talk about HD DVD

BTW, I watched the truck movie. It touted 7.1 audio a lot. I asked what titles were 7.1 and the guy said "I think Constantine" though he was clearly not sure and obviously wrong. Just another poorly informed paid stooge

BTW, I picked up a couple of extra BD DTS demonstrator discs and have put them up for trade in the trading forum...

Yes, unlike the AVS, HD DVD is NOT popular at all (but same as BD). Funny thing I found is that some HD DVD proponents are welcoming LG's dual player, but at LG booth, the main stage had "The Blu-ray Brothers" (pun for The Blues Brothers) and those guys were singing lyrics "Blu-ray Rock" or something like that .

BTW, here are pictures indicating some sort of "popularity" of BD and HD DVD...

I guess so, but it's just the head of PROMOTIONS at the BDA. Of course he's gonna say this stuff, it's his job.

Make no mistake about it, HD-DVD is popular among a few for only one reason.....$499.
